BEM Controls LLC is seeking a Research Scientist with experience in power systems engineering. Required qualifications include a graduate degree in electrical engineering with focus on power systems. Candidates for this position should have expertise in at least one of the following focus areas: (1) distribution systems, including distributed energy resources (DERs) modeling and control; (2) microgrids, including design, control, or energy management system development; and (3) dynamic and transient power system modeling. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, ideation, planning, coordination, and implementation of power systems projects. Experience with power system testing using digital real-time simulators with hardware-in-the-loop is a plus.
This position leads and participates in the software and electrical design of BEM Controls LLC products. Technical responsibilities vary by project; however, the position must have a command of both software engineering fundamentals (Python) and understand how they are applied to simple, reliable design of software used in microgrid environments.
