Are you interested in the semiconductor industry and would like to learn more about product definition engineering and functional safety? Semiconductors are a key element in the automotive industry. This specific internship is suitable for students within a degree program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or similar! In your new role you will:
  • Work on projects that contribute to the development of innovative and safe products
  • Play a key role in ensuring the fulfillment of product requirements, including safety requirements (e.g. ISO 26262)
  • Assist in reviewing functional safety analysis documents, such as Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEDA), Qualitative and Quantitative Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Diagnostic Fault Analysis (DFA), Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP)
  • Verify failure rate and hardware architectural metrics calculations (e.g. ISO 26262-11:2018, SN29500)
  • Consolidate results from safety analysis work products into structured documentation
  • Create customers reports and maintain technical documentation such as data sheets and safety manuals
  • Participate in competitor product benchmarking and application studies

Type of employment: Temporary / Part-time (flexible working hours from Monday to Friday between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.)
Duration: min. 12 months



You are best equipped for this task if you are a motivated and committed student (f/m/div)* from the field of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or similar and if you additionally have:
  • Basic semiconductor understanding and are familiar with functional safety concepts, reliability analysis or ISO 26262 (is a plus)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Basic programming or statistical skills (e.g. MATLAB, Python)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and to work methodically
  • Excellent communication skills in English
This position is subject to the collective agreement for workers and employees in the electrical and electronics industry (full-time), employment group B for bachelor students, employment group D for master students (https://www.feei.at/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/minimum-salaries-white-collar-workers-2025.pdf).
