Intern – Software Engineering

Sysco LABS Sri Lanka delivers the technology that powers Sysco’s end-to-end operations. Sysco LABS’ enterprise technology is present in the end-to-end foodservice journey, enabling the sourcing of food products, merchandising, storage and warehouse operations, order placement and pricing algorithms, the delivery of food and supplies to Sysco’s global network and the in-restaurant dining experience of the end-customer.  

Responsibilities: 

• Designing scalable, robust, and cost-effective solutions in collaboration with senior engineering staff  

• Implementing solutions based on design, adhering to engineering best practices, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery  

• Understanding requirements via user stories, proactively clarifying and writing acceptance criteria for those same user stories 

• Writing unit, integration, and functional tests for the solutions  

• Working collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment, closely with a mentor/Tech Lead on architectural decisions  

• Adhering to DevOps principles and being involved with projects during their full software lifecycle - development, QA, and deployment  

• Maintaining clear technical documentation to support knowledge continuity beyond the internship 

Requirements: 

• Sound knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming concepts 

• Working proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, with exposure to React 

• Basic working proficiency with Node.js 

• Working knowledge of NoSQL databases (MongoDB preferred) 

• Interest in or exposure to engineering metrics, developer productivity, or data visualization tooling is a plus 

• Basic familiarity with Python is an added advantage 

• Basic familiarity with cloud deployment concepts (AWS) is an added advantage
