Intern, Research & Development (Chemistry Formulator)

Summary:

A motivated and detail-oriented Chemistry Formulator Intern to join our SCJ RD&E team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work closely with experienced formulators and scientists in the development and optimization of chemical formulations. The intern will gain hands-on experience in laboratory practices, formulation techniques, and data analysis while contributing to exciting projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in the formulation and development of various chemical products for Home Cleaning & Pest Control products.

• Conduct experiments to optimize formulations based on performance criteria and customer or SC Johnson requirements.

• Prepare and document laboratory reports, including formulation methods, results, and observations.

• Perform stability testing and evaluate the physical and chemical properties of formulations.

• Assist in the preparation of samples for testing and analysis.

• Maintain a safe, clean and organized laboratory workspace, adhering to safety protocols and regulations.

• Collaborating with RD&E core teams (Home Cleaning & Pest Control) and multiple product types.

Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science Technology or a related field.

• Fluent in English

• Strong understanding of fundamental chemistry concepts and laboratory techniques.

• Experience with formulation chemistry is a plus but not required.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

• Ability to manage time effectively and work on multiple projects simultaneously.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols.

Job Requirements:

• 6 months

• 0-5% travel

• Ability to lift laboratory equipment/materials
