Job Description

Technology Obsolescence Project Delivery

  • Lead and manage infrastructure and technology obsolescence remediation initiatives from planning through implementation and closure.
  • Deliver projects addressing End-of-Life (EOL), End-of-Support (EOS), unsupported, and legacy technology risks across infrastructure, platforms, databases, middleware, operating systems, cloud, and application environments.
  • Define project scope, remediation strategies, milestones, timelines, resource requirements, and success criteria.
  • Coordinate technology upgrades, migrations, replacements, modernization activities, and decommissioning of obsolete assets.
  • Ensure remediation activities align with business priorities, security requirements, operational resilience objectives, and regulatory expectations.

Obsolescence Portfolio & Dependency Management

  • Manage a portfolio of technology refresh and lifecycle remediation initiatives across multiple technology domains.
  • Track and coordinate dependencies between infrastructure teams, application owners, cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, vendors, and business stakeholders.
  • Ensure appropriate sequencing of remediation activities to minimize operational impact and avoid service disruption.
  • Monitor technology lifecycle roadmaps and remediation commitments against regulatory and organizational risk reduction targets.
  • Maintain visibility of critical milestones, resource constraints, and remediation deadlines.

Risk, Compliance & Control Management

  • Identify, assess, and manage risks associated with obsolete infrastructure, unsupported software, and aging technology platforms.
  • Drive remediation plans for technology risks arising from EOL/EOS products, vendor support expiration, security vulnerabilities, and compliance gaps.
  • Escalate delivery risks, blockers, and decisions requiring management intervention.
  • Support governance processes for risk acceptance, mitigation, exception management, and remediation tracking.
  • Ensure remediation activities meet internal technology governance, cybersecurity, audit, and regulatory requirements.

Stakeholder & Governance Management

  • Serve as the central coordination point among infrastructure teams, application owners, cybersecurity, architecture, risk management, vendors, and business stakeholders.
  • Facilitate project working groups, steering committee sessions, governance reviews, and executive updates.
  • Provide clear communication on remediation status, delivery risks, technology dependencies, and key decisions.
  • Build consensus among stakeholders with competing priorities to drive timely remediation outcomes.

Vendor & Technology Partner Management

  • Engage technology vendors to evaluate upgrade paths, product lifecycle timelines, support models, and modernization options.
  • Coordinate vendor-led upgrades, migrations, proof-of-concepts, and implementation activities.
  • Track vendor commitments, support deadlines, licensing impacts, and delivery schedules.
  • Support procurement, budgeting, and contract activities related to technology refresh and obsolescence remediation programs.

Reporting, Governance & Documentation

  • Maintain project plans, RAID logs, dependency registers, remediation trackers, and governance documentation.
  • Produce regular reporting on technology obsolescence exposure, remediation progress, milestone achievement, and risk reduction outcomes.
  • Prepare materials for steering committees, technology risk forums, and senior management reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with project management, change management, release management, and operational governance standards.

Transition, Operational Readiness & Closure

  • Ensure successful transition of remediated platforms and services into business-as-usual support.
  • Validate operational readiness, documentation, monitoring, support processes, and knowledge transfer activities.
  • Confirm remediation objectives, risk reduction outcomes, and compliance requirements have been achieved.
  • Conduct lessons learned sessions and post-implementation reviews for continuous improvement.

Required Skills & Experience:

Project & Program Management

  • 8–12+ years of IT Infrastructure Project Management experience delivering complex technology transformation, platform refresh, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
  • Proven experience leading technology obsolescence remediation, infrastructure upgrade, migration, and lifecycle management projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects within large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Strong understanding of project governance, RAID management, budgeting, scheduling, resource planning, and stakeholder management.

Infrastructure & Technology Domain Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of infrastructure technologies including servers, storage, networks, operating systems, databases, middleware, virtualization, cloud platforms, and enterprise applications.
  • Solid knowledge of technology lifecycle management, including End-of-Life (EOL), End-of-Support (EOS), product retirement, and vendor lifecycle management.
  • Understanding of technology risk management, cybersecurity implications, operational resilience, and regulatory expectations related to obsolete technologies.
  • Experience working with technology asset management, infrastructure modernization, and technical debt reduction initiatives.

Stakeholder & Communication Skills

  • Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to engage effectively with technical teams, senior management, risk and compliance functions, and external vendors.
  • Strong facilitation, negotiation, and conflict-resolution capabilities.
  • Proven ability to present complex technology risks and remediation plans to both technical and non-technical audiences.
