Position Overview

The Technical Infrastructure Project Manager will lead and coordinate the relocation of NJ Transit's Primary Data Center from One Penn Plaza to a selected Co-Location facility. This role requires deep expertise in large-scale infrastructure projects, including data center builds, relocations, and corporate headquarters moves.

Required Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in IT support focused on Project Management in infrastructure, specifically data center builds and relocations.

  • Proven track record of having performed more than 3 data center moves/builds (covering Facilities, Network, Compute, Storage, and Migration).

  • Led more than 2 corporate headquarters moves with a scope of 1,000+ users, including responsibility for networking and telecom procurement, as well as new LAN/MDF design, build, and go-live.

  • Ability to commute to Newark, NJ on a hybrid basis as per client needs (3 days onsite / 2 days remote).

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the project portfolio for the new Data Center design/build/migrate and LAN/MDF design-build initiatives.

  • Coordinate internal resources and third-party vendors to ensure flawless project execution.

  • Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.

  • Assist in defining project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.

  • Act as a change agent to improve overall processes and programs.

  • Provide guidance to the project team throughout the lifecycle to meet business requirements.

  • Support the development and deployment of project management standards, guidelines, and processes.

  • Ensure resource availability and allocation.

  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.

  • Report progress and escalate issues to management as needed.

  • Manage relationships with clients and all stakeholders.

  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors.

  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.

  • Track project performance, specifically analyzing the successful completion of short and long-term goals.

  • Meet budgetary objectives and adjust project constraints based on financial analysis.

  • Develop comprehensive project plans to share with clients and staff members.

  • Develop spreadsheets, diagrams, and process maps to document needs.
