Objective of the Role: 

As a Junior level Data Scientist, you will focus on contributing to develop and optimize machine learning models to solve real business challenges. You will be part of the Analytics Chapter, where you’ll enhance your technical skills by sharing knowledge and best practices with other Data Scientists, but your daily work will be embedded within a cross-functional squad, collaborating with Product, Business, Engineering, and MLOps teams and under the guidance of a Senior Data Scientist. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about learning foundational concepts in ML algorithms, assisting with new techniques, and contributing to model performance, while leaving deployment responsibilities to dedicated MLOps specialists. You will be supported by the Analytics Chapter community, strengthening your skills, exchanging ideas, and contributing to a culture of data-driven innovation across teams. 

 

Main Responsibilities

● Perform exploratory data analysis to identify patterns, trends, and actionable insights.

● Gather, clean, and prepare complex datasets from diverse sources, ensuring data consistency and integrity.

● Assist and support in the development, optimization and testing of machine learning models for prediction, classification, clustering, and forecasting, applying advanced algorithms and rigorous validation techniques.

● Work closely with Senior Data Scientists and cross-functional teams to integrate data products into business processes.

● Stay current on trends in data science and machine learning, applying new knowledge to enhance capabilities and drive innovation.

● Collaborate with MLOps engineers and Senior Data Scientists to assist monitoring and maintenance of models in production environments.

● Document methodologies and results; communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

● Contribute to a culture of autonomy, accountability, and proactive problem-solving.

● Act as a Spin Culture Ambassador, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment aligned with company values

 

Required Knowledge and Experience

● Minimum 2 years in data science, statistics, programming, or related fields, with hands-on experience in data analysis, machine learning, and statistical modeling.

● Bachelor’s in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science, or a related discipline. Desirable: coursework or specialized training in machine learning, statistics, or data science. ● Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in data science, such as Python . Familiarity with libraries and frameworks like NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn (Python), for data manipulation, analysis, and modeling.

● Basic understanding of statistical concepts and techniques, including hypothesis testing, regression analysis, and probability distributions.

● Basic knowledge of machine learning algorithms and techniques, including supervised and unsupervised learning, ensemble methods, including linear regression, logistic regression, decision trees, random forests, k-nearest neighbors (KNN),clustering algorithms, and time series. Familiarity with model evaluation metrics and techniques.

● Proficiency in SQL for querying, manipulating, and retrieving data from relational databases.

● Ability to create visualizations to communicate insights and findings effectively. Familiarity with data visualization tools and libraries such as Matplotlib, Seaborn.

● Basic knowledge of version control systems like Git for managing code repositories, tracking changes, and collaborating with team members.

● Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex problems, formulate hypotheses, and develop data-driven solutions.

● Desire: Basic understanding of the specific industry or domain in which the organization operates. Awareness of industry-specific trends, regulations, and business processes.
