Job Description Summary

Organization's Summary Statement:
The Office of Human Resource invites applicants to apply for a full-time, exempt position with benefits. The Human Resources Coordinator will assist with the daily operations of the human resources office. The position will report to the Associate Director.

Salary: $60,000 - $70,000

Accounts (TIAA, Fidelity, or MSRP-Nationwide) with $600 annual state
match, Life Insurance (state sponsored MetLife, USM sponsored MetLife
Plan, life insurance and long-term disability insurance).
• Tuition remission benefits for eligible employees and, subject to USM
policies, spouses and dependents at University System of Maryland
institutions.
• Exempt positions start at 22 days annual per year, sick leave 15 days per
year, personal leave 3 days per year), and paid holidays.
• Employee wellness and support resources and access to the State of
Maryland wellness programs.

Responsibilities:
• Coordinate and support onboarding and orientation for new employees.
• Coordinate and distribute salary letters (administrative).
• Serve as the backup to the recruitment and benefit functions and assist as
needed in those areas.
• Process personnel transactions.
• Review and ensure accuracy of employee information within the HR
information system (Workday).
• Assist employees with leave and FML inquires and forms.
• Respond to employee and departmental HR inquiries.
• Ensure compliance with HR policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Prepare reports, correspondence, and other relevant documents.
• Support HR projects, programs, workshops, and special initiatives.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: (Preferences)
• Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, Public
Administration, or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education
and experience may be considered.
• Two (2) years of professional experience in human resources,
administrative support, or a related field.
• Experience with recruitment, onboarding, employee records management,
or customer service.
• Experience with Human Resources information systems i.e. Workday and
electronic record management.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Knowledge of human resources policies, procedures, and employment
regulations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR information systems.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and provide excellent customer
service.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse environment.
• Knowledge of recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, payroll
processes, and employee records management.

Physical Demands:
• May require extended periods of standing, bending, stooping, sitting at
desk.
• May require lifting.
• Requires communication with a variety of constituents externally and
internally.
• Requires operation of a variety of office equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: One (1) year of professional human resources experience.

Other:

Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.

Knowledge of human resources policies and procedures, and federal, state, and other applicable human resources related laws, rules, regulations, and ordinances.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
Ability to analyze situations and determine the best recourse for response.
