Job Description Summary

The Housekeeper Supervisor assigns the duties to housekeepers and inspects work for conformance to prescribed standards of cleanliness, investigates complaints regarding housekeeping service and equipment, and takes corrective action, delivers supplies to all shift buildings. This individual may work in any location on premises. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but Saint Leo may identify other responsibilities of the position. These responsibilities may differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements.

Job Description

DUTIES AND TASKS:   

  • Develops and implements plans for the successful cleanliness of all the facilities assigned.  

  • Leads assigned personnel, which includes assigning work, work allocation, and training; evaluating performance and making recommendations for personnel actions; motivating employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.  

  • Researches, maintains, and manages inventory of supplies for the shift.  

  • Supervises the care and protection of equipment and supplies from housekeeping. 

  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by Director  

  • May direct routine equipment maintenance and make minor repairs. 

  • May drive a golf cart or other vehicles. 

  • Supervises when personnel move furniture and sets-up tables and chairs. 

  • Notifies supervisor concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment. 

  • Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures. 

  • Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner. 

  • Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments. 

  • Applies all applicable OSHA and related local safety requirements to all assigned work. 

  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. 

  • Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated. 

  • Serves as lead Environmental Services Attendant. 

  • May be required to operate Xerox Equipment 

  • Assigns and checks work of lower level employees. 

  • May be responsible for taking inventory and supporting product ordering process. 

  • Assist in training employees. 

  • Maintains high standards for work areas and appearance. 

  • Attends work and shows up for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity in light of Saint Leo’s time and attendance policy. 

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule. 

  • Must comply with any dress code requirements. 

  • Must be able to work nights, weekends and some holidays. 

  • Essential Personnel - may be required to work during weather and special events as designated by the University.
     

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 

  • Knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to lead and perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience required. 

  • 1-3 years of supervisory housekeeping work experience preferred. 

  • Customer-oriented and friendly. 

  • Strong enthusiasm, motivation, and drive. 

  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude. 

  • Working quickly without compromising quality. 

  • Ability to work with little supervision and maintain high level of performance. 

  • Ability to safely operate vacuums, floor machines, and extraction equipment. 

  • Knowledge and proficiency with all OSHA and local requirements related to all assigned work. 

REQUIREMENTS: 

The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; significant climbing and balancing (25 pounds); significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 10% sitting, 60% walking, and 30% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with exposure to risk of injury.
