Director, Adult Sickle Cell Program Einstein-Montefiore, Bronx, NY

The Hematology Division of the Department of Oncology at Montefiore Medical Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine is seeking a Director of the Adult Sickle Cell Program to oversee New York City’s largest and most comprehensive Sickle Cell Program. Montefiore Medical Center is a busy major academic institution serving a diverse urban and suburban population and is the primary teaching hospital for the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (Bronx, New York).

With approximately 1,300 adults with sickle cell anemia within its network, this program is one of the largest sickle-cell clinics in the nation. You will see approximately 15 patients per day seen in conjunction of a fully trained and professional support staff. The Sickle Cell Program is well supported by an Assistant Sickle Cell Program Director, three (3) nurse practitioners, clinical research associate, a dedicated social worker, and administrative staff. A dedicated infusion unit for sickle cell patients has been available since EOY 2024. The Director has oversight at all levels and is responsible for program organization, optimization of patient care and further development of an already well-established clinical trials program.

Working out of the Moses and Weiler campuses, the Director will be expected to be an integral part of the Adult Hematology Division and actively involved in teaching activities of medical students, residents, and fellows. We are looking for a Director who is dynamic and wants to advance care for this underserved patient population, who understands administrative and clinical needs, and has academic interests, particularly in clinical research and clinical trials.  Call is approximately 1 weekend in 8 weeks.

Our mission is to provide exceptional, comprehensive, compassionate and individualized care for people living with sickle cell disease. Montefiore’s team of internationally recognized hematologists and multidisciplinary experts at the Sickle Cell Center for Adults offer a full range of medical and social services to meet the needs of sickle cell patients.

A full comprehensive benefit package is offered including LTD, STD, paid malpractice, 403(b) and a generous salary between $350k-$400k commensurate with experience and academic rank.

CV with cover letter indicating interest should be sent to: John C. Pinto, Recruiting Manager at jpinto@montefiore.org and Irina Murakhovskaya, MD at imurakho@montefiore.org or call 718 920-4137 for more details.
