GFL Environmental is looking for a Certified Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team in Fort St. John, BC!

We are currently offering a competitive Sign-On Bonus for qualified journeypersons to join Team Green.

A Day in the Life of a GFL Mechanic:

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on diesel, CNG, gas, and electrically operated trucks and heavy-duty equipment.

  • Utilize various power tools, hand instruments, and cutting-edge diagnostic equipment.

  • Complete daily reports, work orders, and part procurement.

  • Plan and schedule repairs using the M5 planner system.

  • Collaborate on mechanical write-ups and coordinate regional repair schedules.

What’s Required:

  • Certification: Completion of a recognized Heavy Duty Mechanic apprenticeship and current Red Seal or B.C. Journeyperson certification.

  • Licensing: Valid Class 5 driver’s license with the ability to operate heavy-duty vehicles safely.

  • Experience: Proven expertise in diagnosing and maintaining mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.

  • Safety: Ability to meet relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions per Company standards.

  • Physicality: Ability to exert physical effort, including lifting items up to 100 lbs.
