Health Coordinator

Your Role

The Health Coordinator leads the implementation of comprehensive health services across multiple centers by supervising Health and Disabilities Advocates and ensuring compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment (EPSDT) requirements. This position partners with families, education staff, family services, disabilities services, and community providers to improve child health outcomes, reduce health disparities, and promote overall wellness. The Health Coordinator also provides coaching, monitors program data, supports enrollment initiatives, and fosters a culture of health and wellness throughout the organization.

What You'll Do

Lead Health Services

  • Supervise and coach Health and Disabilities Advocates to ensure high-quality health services across assigned centers.

  • Monitor compliance with EPSDT requirements and ensure children receive timely preventive health, dental, vision, hearing, and developmental screenings.

  • Ensure children with chronic health conditions have current Individual Care Plans and receive appropriate follow-up services.

Support Children & Families

  • Assist families in establishing and maintaining medical and dental homes.

  • Support families in accessing and maintaining health insurance coverage when eligible.

  • Partner with Family Services staff to develop individualized family goals that promote healthy lifestyles and school readiness.

  • Coordinate interventions that improve attendance and reduce chronic absenteeism.

Promote Program Excellence

  • Utilize health data, audits, and program reports to monitor compliance and improve child and family outcomes.

  • Develop and implement health and wellness initiatives that support children, families, and staff.

  • Collaborate with program leadership to strengthen recruitment strategies and ensure enrollment of children with the greatest need.

  • Work closely with center leadership to coordinate services across education, family engagement, health, and disabilities teams.

Lead and Develop Staff

  • Recruit, supervise, coach, evaluate, and support Health and Disabilities Advocates.

  • Conduct regular team meetings, provide ongoing professional development, and promote continuous quality improvement.

  • Ensure staff understand agency policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Foster a collaborative and supportive team culture focused on positive outcomes for children and families.

What You Bring

A strong commitment to improving health outcomes for young children and supporting families through compassionate, culturally responsive, and evidence-based practices.

Communication Excellence

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with families, staff, healthcare providers, and community partners.

Educational Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Education, Family and Child Development, or a related field required.

  • Master's degree or Registered Nurse (RN) credential preferred.

Leadership Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with diverse families in health or wellness programs.

  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience required.

  • Knowledge of child preventive healthcare, including EPSDT requirements for children ages birth through five.

Technical Skills

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience using Google Workspace, spreadsheets, and electronic data management systems.

  • Ability to analyze data and use outcomes to improve program performance.

Additional Requirements

  • CPR and First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within one year of employment.

  • Successful completion of required background checks and physical examination.

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

  • Ability to travel locally up to 10% for meetings, training, and program needs.
