Job description

We are looking for a Head of Boarding for an International School based in Chengdu. This position is available from the upcoming 2026-27 academic year in August 2026.

Job responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the boarding program, ensuring a safe, caring, and well-disciplined environment for all students
  • Lead and manage the boarding staff team, including recruitment, training, supervision, and performance evaluations
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures in line with safeguarding and child protection standards
  • Foster a nurturing, community-oriented atmosphere that promotes student wellbeing, independence, and personal growth
  • Collaborate closely with academic staff, parents, and external service providers to support students’ academic and emotional development
  • Organize evening, weekend, and holiday activities to enrich the boarding experience
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations and international best practices regarding student accommodation and care

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above (Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related field preferred)
  • Minimum 3–5 years of leadership experience in a boarding school or residential setting
  • Strong understanding of child safeguarding and welfare practices
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Culturally sensitive and able to work with students from diverse backgrounds
