Job Description:

Primary Purpose:

The Hardware Developer actively participates in the definition, specification, development, documentation, maintenance, and verification of hardware designs, for one or more assigned electronic design projects.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Design, develop, and maintain existing and new product hardware designs. Help to identify, specify, and plan tasks he is assigned by the project lead. Provide technical expertise for an accurate determination of costs, delays, and risks related to the project.

2. Co-ordinate and support project team hardware related activities. Organizes the review process with other developers and leads the verification phase of the design process.

3. Respect all duties and procedures included in the Development Process Model (NPD and EDPM), and be involved in defining, improving, and applying the development practices.

4. Work autonomously but provide regular feedback to the project lead. Provide notification about any identified problem or risk.

5. Perform all required actions or tasks to reach objectives defined at the project plan stage in terms of timeframe, effort, and quality.

6. Participate in design reviews.

7. Provide technical leadership/training in areas of expertise.

8. Maintain department tools and/or lab facilities, where applicable.

9. Support internal and external department/customer requests, appropriately.

10.Contribute to company, team, and personal continuous improvement initiatives.

11.Understand, support and contribute to current Molex Total Quality Management (TQM), Six Sigma, International Standards Organization (ISO) and Environmental, and/or Health and Safety (EH&S) Management Systems by following stated policies and procedures.

12.Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Skills & Abilities:

· Familiarity with Cadence Or CAD or Allegro software

· Familiarity with VHDL and AHDL hardware description languages

· Familiarity with debugging/troubleshooting electronic circuits

· Familiarity with using test equipment (eg. oscilloscope, logic analyzer)

· Familiarity with developing test software for use during hardware debugging

· Familiarity with soldering, including surface mount components

· Familiarity with PCB layout

· Familiarity with firmware development

· Familiarity with the C/C++ programming language

· Familiarity with design verification/validation methodologies

· Competency in general use of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)

· Competency in configuration management methods

· Ability to communicate technical information to an audience of any experience level

· Ability to work well individually and as part of a team

· Demonstrable initiative toward continuous improvement

· Good level of English (technical)

Skills Required:

· Experience developing hardware, firmware, software, test ware.

· Experience using non-Windows operating systems (e.g. Linux, QNX, VxWorks, ECOS)

· Familiarity with networking protocols (e.g. Device Net, Profibus, Ethernet)

· Familiarity with backplane standards (e.g. PCI, PC104, PCIe)

· Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (e.g. Rockwell ControlLogix)

· Some project management experience

· Ability to provide project leadership through the implementation of the project lead duties (refer to the Technology and Product Lead job description)

· Fluent English

· Real time operating systems knowledge

· Some experience in the C/C++ programming language
