POSITION:                      Group Host/Kitchen Help

DEPARTMENT:             Camp Del Oro

SUPERVISOR:               Guest Services Manager

STATUS:                         Non-Exempt / On-Call

BASIC PURPOSE

 The purpose of this position is to provide excellent customer service to all guests of Camp Del Oro as the primary host. This position also assists and works closely with Kitchen manager & Guest Service Manager to ensure all communication is clear and is aware of all information pertaining to the group’s needs. A group host handles the comfort and must always be available for needs of the groups, so the group leaders can focus on their people and their program.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • ALWAYS BE AVAILABLE and let the guest staff know where you can be found.
  • Check with the retreat staff periodically to see if they need any assistance with anything.
  • Fix and repair problems in as timely a manner as possible.
  • Let the guest staff know when a problem has been repaired or what action is being taken to address the problem.
  • Monitor the groups schedule for any special request items.
  • Check voice mail on phone and deliver any messages received for the group.
  • 11:00 pm make rounds and turn off lights in areas not being used. If still in use remind the group of the “last one out” policy.
  • Build a fire in campfire pit if requested.
  • Locate sports equipment.
  • Prepare and return TSA statistic forms in a timely fashion to the office manager.
  • Be flexible and accommodating. Our ministry and reputation are based on providing consistent quality service. Do whatever you can within reason, to make sure the weekend is a success for the group.
  • Receive groups and introduce yourself at the time of arrival (Camp Office)
  • Go over rules camp rules and any other important information during the first meal of group & on last day for survey reminders
  • Pre-heat/pre- cool assigned rooms prior to group arrival as necessary & make sure coffee machines is working in the lodges and common areas.
  • Always Have a walkie on you at ALL TIMES.
  • Turn off lights and heaters in all meeting rooms and lodging areas used by the groups.
  • Make sure all buildings areas are secure. Lock all windows and doors.
  • Turn dining room lights off.
  • Take any remaining trash to the dumpsite.
  • Check kitchen for cleanliness.
  • Document any problems or repairs arising from the weekend.
  • Turn off lights in the kitchen and lock it up.

     

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check to include a DOJ Livescan Fingerprint check.

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
    2. Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects
    3. Ability to reach overhead
    4. Ability to operate telephone
    5. Ability to lift up to 50-70 lbs. for positions that require lifting
    6. Ability to operate a computer
    7. Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information
    8. Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools PC, Fax Machine, Telephone, Calculator, Copier, Printer.
