Graduate Civil Engineer

The Opportunity 

 

We are seeking a Graduate Civil Engineer, to join our Melbourne team. The successful candidate will support a diverse range of civil engineering projects across Melbourne and may also contribute to projects in other locations. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers on complex infrastructure and development projects, building strong technical and project delivery skills. 

 

The role will involve supporting the planning, design, coordination, and delivery of civil engineering solutions across a variety of sectors, including: 

 

  • Civil and infrastructure projects for the Department of Defence 

  • Transport infrastructure projects, including roads and rail 

  • Urban and industrial civil works associated with buildings, roadworks, landscape modifications, environmental protection measures, and temporary works 

  • Surface water and piped drainage systems 

  • Water and wastewater infrastructure projects 

 

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer looking to develop their expertise across a broad range of civil engineering disciplines while working within a collaborative and supportive team environment. 

 

Who are you? 

 

The Ideal candidate will have 1-2 years’ experience working within an engineer consultancy and be able to contribute effectively to the planning, design, and delivery of civil engineering projects. The role requires a proactive approach, strong communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams. 

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Working independently under the direction of a Project Manager to support the planning, design, and execution of civil engineering projects. 

  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver project outcomes. 

  • Using design tools to support the efficient production of technical deliverables (MicroStation/CAD experience preferred but not essential). 

  • Preparing reports, contract documents, and technical specifications. 

  • Liaising with Project Managers and/or clients to understand project requirements and provide regular project updates. 

  • Demonstrating an appropriate balance of practicality and innovation in engineering solutions. 

  • Actively participating in the company's quality and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) programs.
