Nextpower is looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to join the Project Engineering Team in Madrid, Spain. Working directly with key accounts located throughout Europe to manage day to day issues on utility scale PV projects from the development stage to construction support. The position will manage all decisions relating to Geotechnical Engineering for Nextpower’s projects including but not limited to analyzing geotechnical reports, foundation sizing, pile load testing, soil corrosion analysis, and various other geotechnical engineering tasks and decisions to support project quoting and calculation packages. Further this position will be interfacing with engineering teams located in the US, Mexico, Brazil, and India as well as Sales, Project Management, and R&D teams at Nextpower’s offices around the world.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing Geotechnical Reports, Corrosion Analysis, and Soil Risk Analysis for tracker foundations

  • Assist in project development phase; review pertinent site information, calculations, and cost estimation

  • Review Geotechnical reports and recommend design parameters.

  • Calculate skin friction, end bearing and lateral resistance from Geotechnical reports

  • Occasional site visit to supervise Geotechnical investigations and pile load testing

  • Prepare foundation calculations, drawings, and seal when necessary

  • Provide construction support by responding RFIs and submittals

  • Assist in development of Nextpower products, generate full understanding of Nextpower product

  • Coordinate with Nextpower's Structural/Geotechnical Engineers in other regions to create and update structural and civil standards, specifications, templates, and design tools

  • Manage, schedule and review third party engineering works

  • Assist in development of expanding Nextpower Design Services team

Required Skills/Experiences:

  • BS in Civil Engineering or equivalent

  • MS in Geotechnical Engineering is preferred.

  • Thorough knowledge of engineering standards, codes and other applicable state and federal guidelines including but not limited to ASCE, Eurocode, and more

  • Proficiency in Lpile Software

  • Proficiency in other foundation Software is a plus

  • 5 years of Geotechnical Engineering work experience in the EPC industry

  • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and other software

  • Fluent in English C1/C2

  • Fluent in Spanish a plus

  • Passion for solar/renewables industry

  • Self-motivated team player
