Job description

Our client is the executive body of the EU responsible for managing it's daily business and ensuring compliance with EU treaties, with 28 member nations and a staff of over 23,000. 

GIS developers typically work as part of a team of software developers to develop GIS applications and tools and maintain software programs to support the needs of the company and/or clients. Additional tasks may include analyzing land and aerial imagery or using databases to create specialized maps such as weather, seismic or population-based maps.

Responsibilities:

1. Design and construction of Geographical Information Systems

2. Technical assistance for the use of GIS software

3. Implementation of geospatial analysis tools.

4. Prototyping

5. Elaboration of test programs

6. Integration with other applications

7. Writing of technical documentation

8. Assistance with deployment and configuration of the system

9. Assist with evaluating and testing products delivered by other teams to ensure that they conform to the requirements and methodology.

10. Participation in meetings with the project teams.


Knowledge and skills:

1. In depth knowledge of GIS software and tools

2. In-depth knowledge of relational database systems

3. In depth knowledge of SQL

4. Good knowledge of geospatial data analysis

5. Good knowledge of programming languages

6. Good knowledge of the design and development of web and multi-tier web applications

7. Good knowledge of modelling tools (e.g. UML)

8. Ability to cope with fast changing technologies used in application developments

9. Ability to participate in multi-lingual meetings, ease of communication.

10. Capability of integration in an international/multicultural environment, rapid self-starting capability and experience in working in team.


Obligatory requirements:

1. Working level of English and / Or French

2. A minimum of 4 years of IT professional experience

3. 2 years GIS experience 

4. 2 years of analysis and programming experience
