This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: Costa Terra, set outside of Melides - Comporta.


As a Gardener Team Leader, your role will to be responsible for lead and completing construction landscape installation jobs in an efficient manner, promoting job worksite safety, providing excellent customer service, and exhibits pride and quality workmanship.

What you will do?

  • Loading and unloading construction materials and moving materials to work areas;
  • Spread and classify the topsoil with shovels and rakes;
  • Plant new trees, flowers, grass and various plants;
  • Complete the assigned tasks effectively and within the allotted time;
  • Keep the equipment clean and organized;
  • Report any damage to the truck, trailer or equipment immediately to the field supervisor;
  • Represent the best interest of the company; maintain the highest level of integrity and professionalism;
  • Perform a highly physical installation job consistently;
  • Work as part of a team and take the lead;
  • Service all garden equipment and machinery;
  • Maintain a clean garden by clearing rubbish and litter from the garden and grounds;
  • Understand and meet the deadlines of the production and project schedule without sacrificing great customer service or excellent quality;
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace and assist the team leader and team leader in maintaining an organized and stocked equipment trailer;
  • Participate in training classes and seminars, as requested by management;
  • Performs groundskeeping duties (e.g. planting, mowing, cultivating, pruning, shaping, trimming, watering, spraying, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining facilities in a safe and attractive manner, and protecting against erosion;

What are we looking for?

  • Minimum 9th year of schooling;
  • Minimum of one year of gardening, landscape, or nursery experience is required;
  • Knowledge of horticulture methods and materials, landscaping and cultivation of trees and woody plants;
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade;
  • Ability to perform grounds construction;
  • Skill in interpreting and completing landscape plans;
  • Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects, such as soil bags, gardening tools, and powered landscape equipment;
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
