Job description

Job Summary

The Classroom Teacher Student Assistant supports the lead teachers in providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for children ages 6 weeks-5 years. This role is ideal for individuals currently enrolled in an early childhood education program or related field seeking hands-on classroom experience.

Job Description

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assist the lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and activities.
  • Support children during learning, play, meals, and rest periods.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
  • Encourage positive behavior and help manage classroom routines.
  • Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities.
  • Assist with setup and cleanup of materials and activities.
  • Observe and document children's behavior and development, as requested.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure the well-being and safety of all children.
  • Communicate effectively with children, staff, and, when appropriate, families.

Other duties:

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

  • Enrolled as a degree seeking student at Florida Gulf Coast University at the time of hire and throughout the appointment.
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and be in good conduct standing with the University.
  • Must complete 45 DCF training hours within 90 days of hire.
  • Must complete all required HR and LELC trainings within 30 days of hire.
  • Must be eligible to receive Federal Work-Study funds.
  • Must be able to work on-site at the Little Eagles Learning Center.
