In The Pocket
Apply to this jobAbout us
We're an independent European digital product studio with a strong track record of delivering market-defining strategies and products for enterprises and governments. With about 200 talented people across three countries, premium AI capabilities and a diverse portfolio of international clients, we define, design and ship high-quality digital products, strategies and software. From global cloud-based platforms and large-scale apps to medical devices, banking software and augmented reality experiences. In a nutshell: if it lives and breathes digital, it’s what we do best.
Become a part of our team
At In The Pocket, you join a multidisciplinary team of designers, engineers, strategists and data specialists who care about the work as much as the people they work with. We work in small, autonomous teams that stay close to our clients and their users, and we give everyone the space to take ownership, speak up and grow. You’ll learn from colleagues across our studios, ship products that reach thousands or even millions of people and help shape what digital can do for leading organisations in Europe.
What you’ll do
As a Full-Stack Web Engineer, you design, engineer, test, improve, and deploy working web applications that meet both user needs and business requirements. You've mastered the fundamentals of modern web development and you're now entering the second stage of your growth as an engineer: deepening your technical expertise while broadening the personal attributes and business insight to start guiding your team through the full lifecycle of a feature. You're fully capable and proactive in taking your share of the work, and your teammates can rely on you to deliver consistent quality with minimal guidance.
- Design, build, and deploy scalable and reliable full-stack web applications, from front end to back end.
- Apply common design patterns (and know the anti-patterns to avoid), you leave the codebase better than you found it.
- Take ownership of quality through test-driven development: you know your platform's testing frameworks and what's worth testing.
- Value abstractions in your code and stay curious about the “why” behind architectural decisions.
- Set up and improve deployment pipelines, deploy complex products end-to-end, and apply monitoring to what you build.
- Build secure by default: you understand how attackers exploit weak spots and apply secure coding practices accordingly.
- Work with design systems to deliver consistent, high-quality UI.
- Translate business requirements into robust, performant, and secure technical solutions.
- Integrate AI tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor) into your daily workflow to sharpen code quality, speed up reviews, and boost productivity while critically validating AI-generated output.
- Maintain frequent, clear communication with client stakeholders so everyone stays aligned on priorities.
- Give and receive feedback openly, and support colleagues when they hit a challenge or ask a question.
- Share what you learn through internal practice sessions, documentation, or contributing to In The Pocket's external thought leadership.
Who you are
- You love building intuitive interfaces with solid UX.
- You understand the advantages of server side rendering beyond SEO.
- You have a keen eye for building accessible applications following the WCAG guidelines.
- The OWASP top 10 sounds familiar to you and you use it to confidently build secure applications.
- You know how to build a robust and maintainable application that survives the test of time through extensive automated testing.
- You enjoy exploring new technologies and frameworks through pet projects or research.
- You have an open mindset: critical eye for quality, curious, eager to learn and not afraid to ask questions.
- You are a spock for other engineers.
- Not afraid to take the lead when needed.
- Proficient in modern front-end development: HTML, CSS and component-based frameworks such as React or Angular.
- Solid instinct for software architecture and a strong grasp of software engineering best practices: Git, unit testing, code quality, CI/CD, documentation, dependency/version management, and monitoring.
- Familiar with back-end fundamentals: knowing the difference between a SQL & NoSQL database and understanding how OAuth & JWT tokens can provide a secure authentication experience.
- You understand common API practices. You know how to utilise OpenAPI or GraphQL specifications to build a typesafe frontend application.
- Experience with Docker and an interest in cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.x
- Able to debug effectively using logs, stack traces, and error messages.
- Comfortable with the agility and pace of a growing or young company.
- Collaborative, proactive, and fluent in English.
- Bachelor’s in Informatics or Master’s in Computer Science (or equivalent experience).
- You embrace AI in your day-to-day development, but stay critical about where it genuinely improves the quality of your output.
What we offer
Joining In The Pocket means becoming part of a team that shapes the future of our clients’ businesses across Europe. Here’s what you can look forward to:
