Fred and Ruth Waugh Endowed Chair in Pentecostal Studies

Biola University invites applications for the Fred and Ruth Waugh Endowed Chair in Pentecostal Studies, a full-time, tenure track faculty endowed chair position in the graduate programs of Talbot School of Theology. The successful candidate will demonstrate distinguished scholarship and teaching in theological studies, with recognized expertise in Pentecostal Theology and the Pentecostal tradition and will begin at the rank of associate professor or professor (level to be determined commensurate with education and experience).
Candidates must be willing to relocate in order to work in residence at Talbot’s campus in La Mirada, CA.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Faculty members are subject matter experts in their respective disciplines who
actively integrate their faith in teaching, research, and life. This faculty position fulfills the following
duties:

• Teach a maximum of 21 credits per academic year in existing graduate courses in the department. Courses may be residential, online, or hybrid.
  
• Provide academic and professional advisement to students.
  
• Remain current in their field by engaging in research, scholarship, and publication.
  
• Willingness to travel to teach as part of Talbot’s modular, hybrid, cohort courses.
  
• Serve as a faculty team member on department and university committees as assigned.
  
• Participate in campus, university, local church, and community service activities.
  
• Participate in other professional duties.
  

QUALIFICATIONS: Ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate:

• Completed doctorate (or equivalent) in theological studies or a similar field (required), with recognized expertise in Pentecostal theology and the Pentecostal tradition.
  
• Academic training, expertise, and research publications in the general discipline of theological studies, with recognized expertise in Pentecostal theology and the Pentecostal tradition, or a similar field.
  
• Experience teaching in the field of theological studies with willingness to teach at the graduate level.
  
• Ability to teach graduate courses online.
  
• Demonstration of excellent teaching skills.
• Candidates must demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching, evidence of scholarly activity, and potential to make significant contributions to their scholarly fields.
  
• Mature Christian character with a demonstrated commitment to service in their local church.
  
• Other ministry experience is preferred.

Salary range: $96,134 - $123,406
