About the team
Corporate FP&A is SumUp's internal strategy and finance partner to business leaders— the team that turns data into the decisions that move the business. We build the forecasts, scenario models, and business cases behind capital allocation, reporting strategy, and investor relations. Think of us as an in-house consulting team with a finance lens. As our FP&A Strategy Intern, you'll own real analyses from day one and see your work shape decisions at the leadership level.
What you'll do
- Build and maintain financial and strategic models to evaluate capital allocation trade-offs, market-entry scenarios, and long-range business plans
- Conduct deep-dive analyses on internal data to surface risks, opportunities, and strategic insights that inform executive decision-making
- Drive cross-functional strategy projects — pricing optimisation, revenue growth levers, unit-economics improvement, or cost-efficiency initiatives — and present recommendations to senior leadership
- Develop investment cases and business cases for product launches, geographic expansion, and strategic initiatives, translating complex analysis into clear narratives for board-level reporting
- Design and monitor KPIs, dashboards, and performance frameworks, and contribute to the automation of analytical workflows using modern tools and scripting
You'll be a great fit if…
- You completed (or you're about to complete) a Master's degree in finance, economics, business, engineering, or a quantitative field from a top-tier university
- You think in a structured, hypothesis-driven way — you can take an ambiguous strategic question, break it into a clear issue tree, and drive to a data-backed recommendation
- You've had a first taste of high-impact problem-solving through internships in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, venture capital, growth-stage startups, or investment banking
- You're a strong analytical modeller — confident building scenario analyses and sensitivity models in Google Sheets or Excel, and you can (or want to learn to) automate workflows with Apps Script or Python
- You can tell a crisp, visual story in slides — distilling complex analysis into clear, executive-ready narratives in Google Slides or PowerPoint
- You have solid financial acumen — you understand P&L drivers, unit economics, and how business performance flows through the numbers
Why you should join SumUp
- Work on real strategic questions alongside SumUp's finance leadership — your analysis will feed decisions affecting 4 million+ merchants across 37 markets
- A steep learning curve with direct mentorship from senior FP&A managers who've come from consulting and banking backgrounds
- A role that blends strategy, finance, and data — the kind of experience that accelerates careers in corporate strategy, investing, or operating roles
- Extras like an Urban Sports Club subsidy and subsidised office lunches
- A truly global, multicultural team of 3,000+ SumUppers from 90+ nationalities
