We’re currently hiring a Part-Time Food Service Assistant I to join our Food & Nutrition Services team at our Newark campus. If you’re reliable, detail-oriented, and passionate about making a difference, we’d love to meet you!

🕒 Your Schedule

This is a rotating part-time position with shifts scheduled between 6:00 AM and 9:30 PM. Candidates must be available to work a combination of all the following shifts:

• 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM
• 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM
• 3:15 PM – 9:15 PM
• Occasional morning shift: 6:45 AM – 3:15 PM

Weekend and holiday rotations are required. Shift times may vary based on departmental needs.

🍽️ What You’ll Do

• Assemble patient meal trays with care and accuracy, following dietary guidelines.
• Prepare trays for modified diets (e.g., pureed foods, thickened liquids).
• Operate dish machines and maintain sanitation stations.
• Ensure cleanliness and safety in all kitchen areas.
• Monitor equipment temperatures and sanitation levels.
• Follow infection prevention protocols, including proper food storage and glove use.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
• Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform tasks like standing, walking, bending, and reaching.

This position has a starting rate of $17.32 per hour, regardless of prior experience. After six months of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $20.34 per hour. After one year of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $21.34 per hour.

This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
