Job Purpose
To
provide strategic and operational leadership over the organisation's fixed
asset portfolio and financial reporting processes. The role ensures accurate
asset accounting, robust financial controls, compliant statutory and
management reporting, and reliable financial insights that support business
decision-making, governance, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Fixed Asset Management
- Lead and govern the fixed asset accounting function in accordance with IFRS and company policies.
- Ensure accurate asset capitalisation, depreciation, impairment, revaluation and disposal accounting.
- Maintain integrity and completeness of the fixed asset register.
- Oversee physical asset verification exercises and periodic reconciliations.
- Partner with Operations, Procurement and Project teams to ensure proper capital expenditure treatment.
- Monitor capital expenditure against approved budgets and investigate variances.
- Drive continuous process improvements and strengthen controls within the asset management environment.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare, review and manage monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting deliverables.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of fixed asset balances and disclosures.
- Support statutory reporting requirements and annual financial statement preparation.
- Coordinate reporting inputs for budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning processes.
- Produce management reports and provide insights relating to capital investments and asset performance.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, tax regulations and internal governance standards
Audit, Risk & Compliance
- Act as the primary finance contact for internal and external audits relating to fixed assets.
- Ensure effective implementation and monitoring of financial controls.
- Address audit findings and process weaknesses through corrective action plans.
- Maintain compliance with all accounting standards, legislative requirements and company policies.
Stakeholder and Team Management
- Provide financial guidance to business stakeholders on asset-related matters.
- Collaborate with Finance, Tax, FP&A, Accounts Payable and Operations teams.
- Lead, coach and develop team members to build technical capability and accountability.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required for the Job
Qualifications and Experience
- CA(SA), CIMA, ACCA or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
Relevant post-graduate qualification in Finance or Accounting would be advantageous. - Minimum 5 to 8 years' post-qualification experience in financial reporting and/or fixed asset management.
- Experience managing complex fixed asset portfolios in a large corporate environment.
- Proven experience in statutory reporting and audit management.
- Demonstrated people management experience.
- Experience engaging with senior stakeholders across multiple business functions.
- Exposure to logistics, supply chain, manufacturing or operational finance environments would be advantageous.
