Apply to this jobThe Field Service Engineer 2 (FSE 2) is responsible for installing and maintaining Growth Direct systems to meet or exceed customer expectations. This position requires critical problem-solving skills, both technically and in handling customer situations. The FSE 2 is an experienced professional with well-developed communication skills who has an understanding of industry practices and company policies. As the customer-facing technical resource, the FSE 2 will be required to perform technical work and make decisions at the customer site, which will require prioritization, evaluation , and clear communication with support and guidance from a supervisor and senior-level FSEs.
Please Note: This is a remote position; however, candidates must reside in California due to the location of our customer base and the travel requirements of the role. Frequent travel throughout California and the West Coast is expected.
Responsibilities
- Perform successful installations at new and existing customer sites
- Complete regularly scheduled Preventative Maintenance activities on time
- Provide dependable and reliable service for emergency customer repairs per service levels defined by the Warranty or Service Contract
- Complete all paperwork within departmental goals
- Will complete service reports, expense reports, and SFDC requirements
- Complete all necessary training on time to meet Quality requirements
- Develop working knowledge of industry practices and company policies
- Support the new instrument Sales Process by performing site inspections
Skills
- Demonstrated ability to read, comprehend, and interpret scientifically written documentation, including - organizational and instrument procedures, and those from customer and/or regulatory agencies
- Strength in defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions
- Ongoing development of professional output including written and verbal communications
- Critical thinking in technical decision making as related to prioritizing schedule, making travel choices, and recognizing when to escalate issues to management
- Computer/Microsoft Office proficiency, especially in Outlook, Excel
- Professional email etiquette
- Presents recommendations and receives support and guidance from a supervisor and senior-level FSE
Knowledge
- Experience working with mechanical systems consisting of pneumatic and servo-controlled mechanisms
- Experience working directly on software-controlled instruments
- Demonstrated experience working in ISO or GMP controlled environments in the life science field
- Acquired knowledge of computer networking
- Previous experience having worked as a field engineer and understanding of appropriate and professional customer handling are required
- Understanding of the FSE role and openness to mentoring by senior-level FSEs Knowledge of procedures to effectively contribute to updates and procedure improvements
Education
- Minimum of technical degree or equivalent military experience, bachelor’s degree preferred
- 2+ years of relevant work experience
Environmental Factors
- May be required to work on client sites for extended hours
Compensation (from employer):
90000–115000 USD per year
