Apply to this jobReporting to the Sales & Service Manager, the Field Service Engineer is responsible for providing expert troubleshooting, diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance to ensure the optimal performance of our advanced analytical systems. The Field Service Engineer will also play a critical role in supporting customers remotely, performing installations, delivering training, and maintaining strong client relationships to drive satisfaction and loyalty.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Expertise and On-Site Activities
- Perform diagnostic analysis, troubleshooting, and on-site repairs of microanalysis instruments.
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance and ensure optimal system performance.
- Perform system installations, including site inspections prior to delivery, to ensure readiness.
- Train instrument users on operation, maintenance, and best practices.
Support and Customer Engagement
- Provide technical support to customers remotely to resolve issues efficiently.
- Promote CAMECA products and services to customers, identifying opportunities to enhance their experience and system performance.
- Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with customers, acting as a trusted partner and ensuring satisfaction with CAMECA solutions.
Inventory and Administrative Tasks
- Manage spare parts inventory rigorously, adapting stock levels to meet customer needs effectively.
- Complete administrative tasks related to service activities, including intervention reports, expense submissions, and other required documentation.
Safety and Compliance
- Adhere to all customer safety protocols during site visits to ensure a safe working environment.
- Follow internal and external compliance standards related to technical service and field operations.
Continuous Improvement and Learning
- Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of CAMECA systems, including hardware and software updates.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance technical expertise and interpersonal skills.
Requirements
Education & experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Applied Physics, Mechatronics Engineering or related scientific discipline.
- Experience with semiconductor equipment, analytical instrumentation, microscopy, metrology or vacuum systems strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
Professional knowledge & abilities
- Perform advanced troubleshooting of scientific instruments incorporating vacuum technology, high-voltage electronics, detectors, precision mechanics, charged-particle optics and software subsystems
- Strong troubleshooting skills in electronics, instrumentation, vacuum systems, software-controlled equipment and complex scientific instruments. Experience with detectors, signal processing, high-voltage systems or semiconductor equipment highly desirable.
- Preferred Technical Backgrounds section including: SEM/TEM, FIB, ion implantation, vacuum technology, metrology, failure analysis, scientific instrumentation, semiconductor equipment, electronics troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trust and maintain client relationships.
- Proactive, customer-focused approach with strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Organized and self-motivated, with the ability to manage time and priorities effectively.
- Willingness to travel extensively (regionally/nationally/globally) based on customer needs.
- Valid driver’s license and passport (if international travel is required).
- English level: B1
