PennEngineering is seeking a motivated, creative individual to be a part of the Field Application Engineering Team in MichiganAs a Field Application Engineer at PennEngineering, you’ll collaborate with teams that do truly amazing things.

Our Field Application Engineers are a critical source of technical support serving as the PennEngineering liaison for our customers and their engineering departments. In this role, you will develop and coordinate strategic plans for new product concepts and all associated product testing. You will be accountable for recommending improvements to products, processes, and performance. You will be responsible for key customers in the automotive industry and beyond, working in exciting and unique situations in rapidly growing industries.  This position may require the individual to specialize in multiple market segments throughout our successful portfolio such as Micro Products, Panel Fasteners, and additional PEM core product. This role requires 20% travel domestically.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  1. Independently utilize engineering principles, training and knowledge in the execution of duties with emphasis on mechanical problem solving.
  2. As the "voice of the customer" for assigned accounts with our PEM and SI products, you will manage long-term, data-driven projects.
  3. Produce new fastener applications and adoptions.
  4. Maintain a high level of technical competency in all areas relating to designing special products that meet the needs of our customers. This includes metal forming, metal cutting, plastic molding, and assembly. Computer literacy is required to utilize quoting, CAD, and enterprise system tools.
  5. Maintain a high level of awareness in Manufacturing, Quality, New Product Innovation, Sales and Marketing disciplines relating to new customer applications.
  6. Make recommendations to your direct supervisor to improve product design, product manufacturability, quoting process, and productivity.
  7. Coordinate and collaborate with various functions domestically and internationally including Sales, Marketing, New Product Innovation, Manufacturing, and global engineering teams.
  8. You will also spend your time:
    1. Developing Special fastener design solutions
    2. Conducting Product/Technical Presentations
    3. Reviewing designs with Engineering and Manufacturing for approval/suggestions
    4. Creating CAD drawings in Creo
    5. Coordinating application testing/specs with PennEngineering and the customer, rep or distributor.
    6. Supply technical information for customer quotations
    7. Perform your duties completely in a professional manner and with minimal supervision.
