Job description

**Federal Work-Study students only**

Reporting to the Vice Provost for Enrollment, the Office of Undergraduate Admission partners with Student Financial Services, the University Registrar, UVA One Stop and AdviseVA, as a critical member of the University’s Enrollment team. The team’s mission is to care for students from their first interaction with the University through Final Exercises and beyond; to compete for great students from all walks of life who will make each other better; and to collaborate joyfully with colleagues to help these students make the most of their gifts and their time on Grounds.

The Office of Undergraduate Admission, located in Peabody Hall, strives to recruit, support, and enroll exceptionally talented students from all walks of life, in service of the University and the Commonwealth of Virginia. In this work, we process thousands of student inquiries and over 80,000 applications each year. For many visitors and prospective students, we are their first point of contact with UVA, so the impression we make is crucial. We are looking for enthusiastic candidates to assist with a variety of administrative tasks.

Responsibilities Overview:

  • Create an inviting atmosphere for visiting guests, callers, and office staff.
  • Welcome University guests, answer prospective student questions, and assist with information session registration and tours.
  • Provide professional, knowledgeable, and consistent customer service via phone, email, and in-person communications.
  • Perform routine clerical office support, such as processing application materials and creating/updating records.
  • Where applicable, position may require ability to interact with the general public.
  • Operate basic office machinery, such as phone, fax machine, computer, and copier.
  • Learn and share important facts about UVA and the undergraduate admission process.
  • Follow oral and written instructions.
  • Work and communicate effectively with others.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Other duties as assigned.

No experience or previous training required.  Perform routine tasks with minimal responsibility.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs. Lift boxes up to 25 pounds.
