Fashion Director
Monocle
Apply to this jobMonocle and Konfekt are looking for a bilingual French-English-speaking Fashion Director to lead our editorial coverage from our bureau in Paris. This is a rare opportunity for an accomplished editor to become the public face of our fashion journalism, representing our titles at the industry’s biggest shows, while producing distinctive, intelligent reporting across print, digital and radio, and moderating live events.
We’re looking for someone with exceptional editorial judgement and genuine industry credibility. You’ll be comfortable interviewing CEOs and leading designers, as well as commissioning original stories, spotting emerging trends and working alongside our commercial team to strengthen relationships with brands and businesses.
We’re also interested in hearing from candidates whose careers have taken a less traditional editorial route. You might have built your reputation through styling, creative direction, brand consultancy or fashion PR, combining an exceptional industry network with an instinct for the new, distinctive and unexpected. You’ll know which established and emerging names belong in Monocle and Konfekt, be a compelling ambassador for our titles and have the editorial judgement to turn access and ideas into intelligent stories, whether writing them yourself or developing them closely with our editorial teams.
This is a senior editorial role with real influence. You’ll help to define how Monocle and Konfekt cover fashion across menswear (Monocle) and womenswear (Konfekt), while maintaining the thoughtful, globally minded perspective that defines our journalism.
You’ll likely have built your career at one of the world’s leading publications and be ready for a role with greater influence and visibility. Whether your background is in menswear or womenswear, what matters most is your ability to tell intelligent stories, be a trusted voice within the industry and deliver a sense of discovery on the page too.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead Monocle and Konfekt’s fashion coverage from our Paris bureau.
- Report, write, edit and commission original journalism across magazines, digital, newsletters, radio and podcasts.
- Attend a busy calendar of international fashion weeks, tradeshows and industry events throughout the year.
- Build and deepen relationships with businesses, brands, designers, retailers and industry leaders.
- Identify emerging stories, markets, people and ideas that deserve attention.
- Collaborate closely with editorial teams in London, Paris and our international bureaux.
- Represent Monocle and Konfekt at industry events and contribute to commercial conversations where appropriate.
We're looking for someone who...
- Has significant experience within fashion journalism or the wider fashion industry, with a strong understanding of what makes a compelling editorial story.
- Is an outstanding writer and editor with impeccable editorial judgement.
- Has a strong existing network across the international fashion industry.
- Is commercially aware without compromising editorial integrity.
- Thrives in a fast-moving news space where every day brings something different.
- Is naturally curious, confident and comfortable building relationships at every level.
- Is fluent in both English and French. Demonstrable expertise in fashion journalism writing in English is strongly preferred.
- Is excited by the potential for extensive international travel and ambitious about the ability to shape the role.
This position is based in Paris, France.
