Job Description:

This role is with Systec Conveyors an Alliance company.

Summary

The primary purpose of the fabricator is to drill and tap holes to the proper size for assembly of final product.  Holes are drilled, tapped, and/or punched as indicated by marking provided by layout.

Responsibilities

Primary:

  • Fabricator will select piece from lot and read specifications for size of hole(s) to be drilled

  • One at a time the fabricator will select the appropriate bit and insert in drill press

    • Process will be repeated until all required holes are drilled

    • For larger holes a hole saw is used instead of a bit

        • For some holes as many as three holes may have to be drilled – a pilot, then a little larger, then a final size

  • After holes are drilled, operator will use countersink bit to deburr both sides of the piece

  • After deburring, the fabricator selects the appropriate tap and taps all wholes that require threads as specified

  • Occasionally some parts are run on the small punch press when several holes of the same size are required

    • This depends on the position of the holes and the thickness of the metal

Qualifications

Required:

  • Strong work ethic

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted

  • Able to work on feet for extended periods of time

  • Reliable mode of transportation
