Job Description

Position Summary

The Operation Executive is responsible for coordinating and executing daily breeding research operations across research stations and field trial sites. The role ensures smooth implementation of breeding activities, accurate data collection, efficient resource utilization, and compliance with operational, safety, and quality standards to support the development of high-performing oil palm planting materials.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategy & Planning

  • Assist in planning and monitoring annual operational budgets for breeding research activities.

  • Coordinate field operation schedules for breeding trials across research stations.

  • Support the establishment of new breeding trials, including nursery preparation, planting material management, transplanting activities, and field layout implementation.

  • Monitor operational timelines to ensure breeding activities are completed according to project milestones and KPI requirements.

  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and productivity.

2. Operational Excellence

  • Coordinate and monitor daily breeding field activities including:

    • Leaf sampling

    • Fruit typing

    • Bunch census

    • Yield recording

    • Maintenance and replanting activities

  • Ensure accurate and timely field data recording, verification, and submission.

  • Perform operational quality control (QC) for field execution, technical procedures, and data entry processes.

  • Maintain proper inventory and movement records of planting materials and breeding populations.

  • Provide operational and technical support for internal projects, visitors, audits, and ad-hoc activities.

  • Ensure compliance with HSE, SOP, and 5S requirements during all breeding operations.

  • Assist in safety monitoring and implementation of safe work practices during field and nursery activities.

 

3. People Management & Coordination

  • Supervise field workers and coordinate manpower allocation for breeding operations.

  • Monitor workers’ productivity and work quality to ensure operational targets are achieved.

  • Conduct basic operational briefings and on-site guidance for workers and field assistants.

  • Support training and upskilling of workers on breeding operation procedures and data collection standards.

  • Foster teamwork and effective communication between research, nursery, and field operation teams.

Qualification & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Plant Science, Agronomy, Plantation Management, Biotechnology or related disciplines.

  • Experience in plantation, breeding, nursery, or agricultural field operations is an advantage.

  • Knowledge in field trial management and agricultural data recording is preferred.

  • Able to work independently and manage multiple field activities simultaneously.

  • Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic data management.
