The Position
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Executive Director of Strategic Alliances and Integration to join our team. This individual contributor role reports directly to the AVP Strategic Alliances and Operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong working knowledge of drug development and commercialization, along with exemplary leadership abilities, strategic thinking, and the capacity to navigate ambiguity and work effectively across diverse cultures. Additionally, the candidate should bring breadth and depth of scientific/technical, business, and deal making knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Manage strategic alliances to maximize value and ensure successful collaboration.
- Lead the integration of companies and assets, ensuring smooth transitions and effective assimilation.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance alliance programs and integration processes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with multiple departments to ensure alignment and synergy.
- Utilize strategic thinking to identify opportunities for growth and improvement within alliances and integrations.
- Navigate and resolve ambiguity in complex situations to drive successful outcomes.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and teamwork across different cultural backgrounds.
- Support Corporate Development initiatives on new deals and lead alliance amendments.
- Ensure thorough understanding and adherence to contractual obligations by cross functional teams
- Execute operational and governance strategies effectively in line with contractual terms.
- Resolve conflicts and manage issues that arise within alliances and integrations.
- Codify alliance, integration learnings and develop best practices
Required Education, Experience, and Skills
- Experience managing complex commercial pharmaceutical alliances is highly preferred, including:
- knowledge of business practice compliance requirements within the pharmaceutical industry (e.g., promotional compliance, appropriate interactions, governance frameworks).
- awareness of market access strategies, payer dynamics, reimbursement pathways, and pricing fundamentals.
- working knowledge of supply chain management principles relevant to pharmaceutical products.
- understanding of pharmaceutical medical affairs strategies / scientific engagement models
- understanding of key financial principles, including P&L components [Gross / Net sales, Product Gross Margin, Operating Income].
- Direct experience in managing integrations is a plus.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and guide cross-functional teams.
- Proven strategic thinking capabilities and the ability to develop and implement effective strategies.
- Good knowledge of deal-making and leading alliance amendments
- Thorough understanding of contractual obligations and operational execution accordingly.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and navigate cultural differences.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong conflict resolution skills.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in drug development, commercialization, or related area.
- Demonstrated success in managing alliances and integrations – ideally including a minimum of 5 years of experience in managing complex commercial alliances
