Estimator / Quantity Surveyor (Commercial) - with BuildTrend experience

Position : Estimator / QS (Commercial)

Salary : $1,700 - $2,200 AUD a month

Working Hours & Conditions :  Australian Hours

Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor / Estimator with experience in commercial construction to support the preparation of tenders, cost estimates, and project pricing. This role is focused on analysing tender documentation, completing accurate material take-offs, and assisting with supplier pricing and procurement activities.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of commercial construction methodologies, excellent numerical skills, and experience working with estimating and procurement software.

Estimating & Tender Analysis (Primary Focus)

• Review and analyse tender documentation, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects
• Conduct quantity take-offs and material measurements from plans and specifications
• Identify project risks, exclusions, and cost considerations during tender review
• Assist in preparing competitive and accurate tender submissions

Quantity Surveying & Cost Management

• Complete accurate quantity calculations for materials, labour, and subcontractor scopes
• Support budgeting, cost planning, and project feasibility assessments
• Monitor and maintain estimating databases and pricing schedules
• Assist with variation pricing and cost analysis where required

Supplier & Procurement Coordination

• Source supplier and subcontractor pricing using ProcurePro
• Obtain and compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
• Assist with procurement planning and cost benchmarking
• Maintain supplier databases and pricing records

Systems & Documentation

• Prepare and maintain estimating records within BuildTrend
• Ensure all project documentation is organised and accurately recorded
• Support process improvements across estimating and procurement workflows
• Assist with project handovers from estimating to delivery teams

Tools & Systems

• BuildTrend (must / ideal)
• ProcurePro (preferred)
• Microsoft Excel
• Commercial construction plans and estimating software

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Estimator, or Cost Planner within commercial construction
• Strong experience conducting material take-offs and quantity calculations
• Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and engineering drawings
• Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail and commercial awareness
• Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously

Desirable

• Experience with BuildTrend and/or EstimateOne
• Experience working on commercial, industrial, or multi-residential projects
• Understanding of Australian construction contracts and tender processes
• Previous experience supporting procurement and supplier engagement
