Job description

Using classic design methodology, the EPS Column Product Line - Gearbox Design Engineer is responsible for the design, analysis and Bill of Materials generation of column EPS gearbox designs to meet government and customer and internal requirements/specifications for various automotive applications. The EPS Column Product Line - Gearbox Design Engineer is responsible for the form, fit and power off functional requirements through the product’s life cycle of the column and
intermediate shaft design and its physical interfaces.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

- Math modeling and design alternative analysis to assess design feasibility and specification compliance for new and existing automotive applications
- Generate Bill of Materials for column EPS gearbox assemblies and champion change control of BOM.
- Interface with steering system application team members on the form, fit and function of the column EPS system
- Support prototype and pre-production orders of column and intermediate shaft assemblies to support demonstration, mule and validation vehicles and lab testing
- Interface with other regions and technical centers to support new business opportunities, application design and core technology roll out and application of best practices and designs.
