ENTRY LEVEL Lab technician

· Supports laboratory operation using technical ability to run routine samples with limited supervision. HPLC, GC, UV or other instrumental techniques, wet chemical and microbiological techniques are utilized. Recognizes abnormal results and/or instrument problems and reports them to supervision.

· Performs routine tests and experiments following compendial or standard procedures

· Data maintenance and record keeping are in accord with GMP and SOPs

· Recognizes and investigates deviations

· Reports deviations to appropriate personnel

· May be assigned to projects dealing with special samples needing method modifications such as extraction/dilution changes or standard addition, but always with close supervision.

· Sets up, adjusts and operates laboratory equipment such as microscopes, centrifuges, balances, spectrophotometers, chromatographs and other laboratory equipment.

· Maintains Standard Operating Procedures dealing with their work area.

· Records tests results on standardized forms and prepares reports describing procedures used. Prepares charts and graphs to assist in evaluation and interpretation of data.

· Maintains a safe and clean working area, and assists others in same.

· Ability to Summarize and present experimental data when necessary

· Ability to communicate with-in department. May contact vendors and/or external customers for administrative and technical information.

Qualifications (Training, Education & Prior Experience):

· To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

· Excellent attention to detail

· Ability to use and perform HPLC, GC, UV and other instrumental techniques.

· High School degree or equivalent with approximately 3 to 5 years lab experience; or

· BS in related scientific field
