With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

As the Tech Lead Manager (TLM) for the Infrastructure Engineering team, you will revolutionize the global network infrastructure. In this role, you will lead a software engineering team focused on automated traffic routing and maintenance systems, and will drive Google’s self-driving network mission across a production environment. You will balance technical leadership with people management. You will define the strategy and roadmap for critical automated systems, developing next-generation APIs, self-driving network software, and resilient disaster recovery protocols.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $207000 - $301000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of software engineers to design, build, deploy, and in some cases, operate the critical software systems that directly manage the global data center networking infrastructure.
• Cultivate a high-performance culture of technical excellence, inspire engineers across wide initiatives, and directly manage a highly collaborative group of software engineers.
• Guide teammates to design and implement features to further our intent-based network management goals.
• Build cross-functional relationships across the wider organization to deliver advanced automated flows that seamlessly execute network lifecycle operations.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
  
• 3 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
• 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  
• 3 years of experience working in a complex organization.
• Experience with Go, C++, and data center networking.
