Job description

Energy Advisory Leader – Transactions

At Aurecon, we are optimistic about the future. We are thinkers, solvers, and collaborators who work with our clients to deliver the infrastructure and assets that strengthen communities and create a sustainable future.

Lead the next chapter of Australia’s energy transition advisory story.

As our Energy Advisory Leader – Transactions, you’ll help shape Aurecon’s nationally significant advisory capability at a pivotal moment for Australia’s energy market. You’ll work with clients who are making complex investment, financing and asset decisions, bringing together technical insight, commercial judgement and confident communication to help turn energy transition ambition into bankable, deliverable outcomes.

What you’ll do

  • Lead high-value energy advisory and transaction engagements, with a focus on advising strategically, undertaking technical due diligence, assessing asset risk/opportunity, informing investment confidence and driving commercially-astute outcomes for our clients.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, investors, developers, utilities and major energy users as they navigate complex energy transition decisions.
  • Translate technical analysis into clear, compelling advice that helps clients, debt and equity providers, and offtakers, to understand key risks and opportunities, informing decisions and planning.
  • Partner with leaders and specialists within Energy and Infrastructure Advisory, and subject matter experts across Energy engineering teams and Advisory, to deliver front-end advisory work and convert into broader client opportunities and long-term relationships.
  • Develop future leaders and build enduring capability across the advisory practice, creating a strong platform for continued growth and market impact.
  • Work nationally and flexibly across teams, markets and locations to grow a capability that reflects the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition across our client base, and positions for where the energy market is heading next.

What you’ll bring

  • Deep energy-sector expertise, with experience across energy transactions, energy economics, grid, renewables and investment advisory including technical due diligence.
  • A strong track record advising clients on energy assets, investment decisions, asset performance, risk or market-facing advisory work, supporting project and portfolio financing and offtake negotiations.
  • The ability to combine technical depth with commercial judgement, turning data and analysis into practical insight for senior decision-makers.
  • Executive-level communication skills, including the ability to present complex findings simply, clearly and persuasively to clients, financiers, other advisors and leadership teams.
  • A visible market presence, relevant relationships, strong client instincts and the ability to help originate, shape and win meaningful advisory opportunities across Aurecon.
  • A collaborative leadership style, with the ability to mentor others, share relationships and build capability.
  • Sound judgement and comfort operating within a mature consulting environment, balancing pace, client responsiveness, culture, governance and risk.
