Inspecting, maintaining and repairing all electronic, electrical and mechanical equipment and systems on a fleet of 66 passenger rail vehicles in accordance with OEM instructions and FRA regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspection, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of vehicle electrical and electronic systems including but not limited to propulsion, braking, cab signal and train control systems, door systems, intercoms and public address systems
  • Perform inspection, service, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of vehicle mechanical systems and car-shell, including but not limited to HVAC, drive units, trucks, couplers, and brakes.
  • Respond to service failures as required
  • Utilize shop tools and test equipment such as wheel true machine, forklifts, table-lifts, hoists, cranes, power tools, specialized measuring tools, electronic test equipment, laptop computers and hand tools
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Ability to comply with all safety rules and instructions including the use of proper personal protective equipment
  • Record completed inspections and repairs using the Maintenance Management System and other software tools; complete written reports as required
  • Operate trains within the confines of the shop mechanical tracks and storage yard

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) from an accredited institution with the ability to comprehend, communicate and respond to instructions, orders, signs, notices, inquiries, etc. in English
  • An Associate’s Degree or Accredited Secondary School Diploma and successful achievement of industry required licenses or certifications in Aviation Maintenance Technology, Automotive Maintenance or other Industrial Maintenance Technology program

OR

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience maintaining and repairing electro-mechanical systems and equipment preferably at a senior level. Heavy equipment mechanic or light rail Electrical Multiple Unit vehicle experience preferred
  • The ability to use equipment diagnostics systems such as found in Automotive Maintenance Software Applications
  • Must be able to pass the required training and examinations to become a Qualified Maintenance Person per 49 CFR 238
  • Ability to comply with all safety rules and instructions including the use of proper personal protective equipment
  • Ability to prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks with minimal supervision
  • Ability to read and interpret operating and maintenance manuals, schematics, prints and instructions typically used in the position
  • Must be able to work scheduled overtime and be available for non-scheduled emergency call outs outside of assigned work hours
  • Must be able to work 3rd shift, weekends
  • Must be a strong mechanic with mid- senior level experience.

Requirements:

  • Must pass a pre-employment physical examination including a physical ability assessment related to the physical requirements of the essential functions of the position
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and successfully pass a background check
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and be willing to comply with the Drug and Alcohol Policy
  • Must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license
