Role Overview:

Aeva is seeking to hire a talented and motivated Verification and Validation (V&V) Engineer to join our EE Hardware Development Team. The EE HW team owns the design, build and bring-up of Aeva’s mixed-signal PCBs. As a V&V Hardware Engineer, you will be expected to perform a wide range of tasks in PCBA or sub-circuit bringup, characterization, verification, and validation.

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Work closely with EE design engineers and other engineering teams to examine the individual PCBs, their function, and interconnections
  • Simulation & hands-on characterization of a circuit, sub-circuit, PCBA, or system and articulating feedback in formal or informal design reviews.
  • Partner with design leads to perform a variety of design verification & validation tasks
  • May engage with CM’s or internal Manufacturing teams to ensure smooth roll-out in an NPI function
  • Support EE team in backend design support including RMA, FA, and Customer interfacing

What you have:

  • BS or Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 1-4 years experience in the Electrical Hardware / product space with robust, hands-on lab experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good understanding of HW components, their interfaces and SW controls
  • Good understanding of debug and probing techniques for a variety communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, Ethernet, PCIE etc)
  • Understanding of PCB design fundamentals & technical tradeoffs
  • Be an active team member working closely with other EE design engineers and other groups
  • Ability to analyze a design, component data sheet, user guide, or schematic to make insightful decisions 
  • Prior experience with Python / MATLAB for test automation and data visualization
  • Experience in motor control and/or RF/analog design is a plus
  • A big plus if you have experience in the automotive or Lidar industry
