Job Description

SUMMARY OF POSITION:  

As a key contributor to the Occupational Health & Safety and Environment & Sustainability (OH&S and E&S) team, this role assumes a leadership position in driving Kimberly-Clark’s (K-C) commitment to Better Care for a Better World. Serving as Site OH&S and E&S Coordinators, individuals in this role provide leadership for OH&S and E&S programs and systems, particularly at the company’s non-manufacturing locations. The position ensures that the facility is strategically aligned and operating in conformance with K-C OH&S and E&S Standards and in compliance with local legal requirements. The Site OH&S and E&S Coordinator typically reports to a Site Senior Leader. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Legal Compliance Management: Monitor and manage the implications of relevant legal requirements applicable to site activities and operations.
  • Risk Management: Capably manage identified OH&S and E&S risks, ensuring a proactive approach to risk mitigation.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Demonstrate competence in relevant OH&S and E&S topics, especially those addressed by K-C OH&S and E&S Performance Standards and associated operation-specific risks.
  • Incident Support: Leverage experience to support incident investigations and associated causal analyses.
  • Training Delivery: Deliver basic OH&S and E&S training common in less complex operations.
  • Program Assessments: Execute routine checks and self-assessments of the site OH&S and E&S program maturity and performance for operations of low complexity.
  • Leadership Skills: Exhibit relevant leadership skills related to taking accountability, positive role modeling, and demonstrating commitment as per the Leadership Curriculum.
  • Technological Acumen: Utilize data, digital systems/platforms, and confidently address technological advancements (e.g., automation) relevant to perform tasks/duties of the role.
  • Project Management and Change Support: Possess project management and management of change support capabilities.
  • Lean Mindset: Approach tasks with a lean mindset, emphasizing continuous improvement, value to the customer, and a "go to where the work happens" attitude.

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1.      Compliance Assurance:

·         Assess and verify the site's compliance with Kimberly-Clark (K-C) and regulatory controls and requirements related to Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability (OH&S and E&S).

·         Ensure that the facility adheres to all applicable local legal requirements.

2.      OH&S and E&S Management System Facilitation:

·         Facilitate the implementation of the site's OH&S and E&S Management System, working collaboratively with key stakeholders.

·         Provide guidance and support to ensure effective adoption and adherence to the OH&S and E&S Management System.

3.      Risk Management Awareness:

·         Maintain awareness of OH&S and E&S aspects, hazards, and regulatory requirements, ensuring ongoing evaluation and management to acceptable levels of risk or impact.

·         Regularly communicate updates on OH&S and E&S aspects to relevant stakeholders.

4.      OH&S and E&S Program Improvement:

·         Contribute to efforts aimed at improving OH&S and E&S program maturity within the organization.

·         Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement enhancements to existing OH&S and E&S programs.

5.      Event Investigation and Corrective Actions Support:

·         Support OH&S and E&S event investigations, ensuring root cause evaluations are conducted.

·         Verify the effective implementation of corrective and preventative actions to enhance incident prevention.

6.      Training and Orientation:

·         Ensure all employees complete appropriate OH&S and E&S orientation and training programs.

·         Contribute to the development and delivery of training initiatives to enhance OH&S and E&S awareness and competency.

7.      Contractor Compliance Oversight:

·         Ensure adherence of contractors to relevant K-C standards and OH&S and E&S requirements.

·         Collaborate with contractors to establish and maintain a safe working environment.

8.      Digital Data Management:

·         Utilize digital systems/platforms to capture OH&S and E&S data necessary for analysis and reporting.

·         Provide insights and recommend improvement actions based on data analysis.

9.      Health Services and Emergency Response Support:

·         Support Health Services and emergency response efforts, collaborating with relevant teams to ensure preparedness and effective response.

Key Decisions/Decision Rights

Decision rights for this role relate primarily to escalation (to Regional/BU and Global OH&S and E&S leadership) of any potential conditions that cannot be appropriately resolved locally and are associated with potential:

  • Non-conformance/non-compliance with K-C and regulatory controls and requirements related to OH&S and E&S
  • EHS risks or impacts that may not be managed to acceptable levels
  • Ineffective corrective/preventative actions specified to address OH&S and E&S events/subsequent investigations
  • Ineffective controls to provide quality and complete OH&S and E&S data for compliance/conformance purposes

 

 


QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications

·         At least 3-5 year of experience in environmental, safety, health or similar field that involved managing legal compliance, hazards/risks and conformance with company standards.

·         Qualifications required by local regulatory authorities if any.

·         Strong communications, interpersonal skills with ability to engage at all levels of the organization.

·         Ability to influence behaviors/outcomes w/o direct authority.
