About Us

Progressive Directions, Inc. (PDI) is a private, non-profit organization serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Tennessee. Since 1976, PDI has been dedicated to helping people live with Pride, Dignity, and Independence through person-centered supports and family-focused services.

About Our Early Intervention Department

Our Early Intervention Department provides in-home developmental therapy and family support for infants and toddlers with developmental delays or disabilities. We work alongside families to create meaningful, everyday learning experiences that help children grow and thrive. Our team collaborates closely with Tennessee’s Early Intervention System (TEIS) to ensure every child receives high-quality, individualized support in their natural environments, at home, in childcare, or in the community.

About the Role

Progressive Directions, Inc. is seeking compassionate, experienced Early Interventionists to support families and young children (ages 0–4) with developmental delays or disabilities. You’ll coach and empower families in their natural environments—homes, childcare centers, or other community settings—to help each child reach their fullest potential.

What You’ll Do as an Early Interventionist

  • Coach and support families of children (ages 0–4) with developmental delays or disabilities in their homes, childcare centers, or any other environment natural to the child on your caseload
  • Support families in working toward their Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) goals
  • Collaborate with service coordinators, teachers, and other therapists on the team to achieve optimal outcomes for the child and family
  • Record and maintain documentation of services and contacts within set timelines using the state’s web-based system (TEIDS)
  • Conduct developmental screenings, assessments, and progress reports within DOE and TEIS timelines
  • Educate and support families in understanding developmental milestones, effective parenting strategies, and available community resources
  • Facilitate children’s transitions to future programs or educational placements
  • Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and DOE compliance standards

*** The list above summarizes the key responsibilities and expectations of this role; it’s not all-inclusive but captures the main duties you’ll perform as an Early Interventionist.
