Job description

We're Hiring: Early Career Occupational Therapist
📍 Location: Hobart, TAS
🕒 Full-time (flexibility for 0.8–0.9 FTE)

Are you an early career Occupational Therapist ready to grow your skills in a genuinely supportive, client-focused environment, all while enjoying one of Australia's most liveable cities? If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you!

About the Company

Our client is a well-established, multidisciplinary allied health provider with two thriving clinic locations across Hobart, alongside a strong community-based and hybrid workforce. They're known for building their services around the passions and strengths of their clinicians rather than boxing people into a fixed caseload. With a broad and diverse client base spanning paediatrics through to older adults, and across physical, psychosocial and neurological domains, this is a team that genuinely invests in giving early-career OTs room to explore, learn and specialise at their own pace. It's a values-driven, people-first organisation where your growth is treated as just as important as client outcomes.

About the Role

You'll be joining a vibrant, multidisciplinary team with the flexibility to work across clinic-based, community-based, or a hybrid mix, whatever suits your working style best. The majority of the caseload sits within the NDIS space, offering excellent exposure to a fast-growing and rewarding area of OT practice, with plans to diversify further based on your interests. Full-time positions are available, with genuine flexibility around 0.8 to 0.9 FTE for those seeking a bit more balance.

What You'll Do:

  • Conduct assessments, develop therapy plans, and deliver evidence-based interventions
  • Work across a caseload tailored to your clinical interests: paediatrics, adults, or a blended mix
  • Deliver NDIS-funded supports as part of a predominantly NDIS caseload, with room to broaden into other funding streams over time
  • Collaborate with clients, families, carers, and a wider multidisciplinary team
  • Maintain clear documentation and contribute to goal setting and reviews
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing professional development

What We're Looking For:

  • Qualified Occupational Therapist (AHPRA registered)
  • Early career OTs and new grads warmly welcomed, full supervision and mentoring provided!
  • Exposure to or interest in NDIS service delivery (training and support provided if you're still building this experience)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A genuine passion for helping people build independence and improve everyday life
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team

What's on Offer:

  • Warm, collaborative clinic culture with a supportive leadership team
  • Flexibility to shape a caseload around your clinical interests
  • Full-time or part-time hours (0.8 to 0.9 FTE considered)
  • Mix of clinic-based, community-based, and hybrid working options
  • Competitive salary + super
  • Ongoing professional development support
  • The chance to grow across a huge breadth of clinical areas early in your career

Why Hobart?
Beyond the role itself, you'll be based in one of Australia's most liveable and laid-back capital cities. Hobart sits on the River Derwent, with its fashionable Salamanca Place hosting galleries and cafes in old sandstone warehouses, and nearby Battery Point offering a historic district of narrow lanes and colonial-era cottages, all set against the backdrop of Mount Wellington, with sweeping views and hiking trails right on the doorstep. The city offers a balanced lifestyle with a strong sense of community, stunning natural beauty, and a relatively affordable cost of living compared to Sydney or Melbourne, plus a genuinely creative, close-knit community, home to MONA, one of the world's largest private art collections. Whether it's weekend hikes, harbourside cafes, or a slower pace after work, Hobart offers a lifestyle that's hard to beat.
