Dyeing Lead | Monday - Friday

Position Overview

This position is Monday- Friday 3pm-11pm.

POSITION OBJECTIVE:   Assist the Supervisor in the daily operation of the shift, with an emphasis on training and quality improvement.  Maintain a working knowledge of all Kuster jobs as may be required to relieve, replace, or assist operating personnel for absences, or unscheduled downtime.

Essential Duties:

  • Verify job procedures by observation to ensure all jobs on the line are performed correctly.  This includes but is not limited to greige roll lay-up, sew-on, operation of tanks, pumps, lines, and valves for batch runs, Instacolor, fluid-dyer, steamers, SST, chemical application, dryer, and roll-up equipment
  • Inspect dyed rolls and maintain required reports
  • Perform required computer data entry/close-outs
  • Conduct on-the-job training with all new line employees if needed
  • Provide directions/instructions/guidance to all line personnel
  • Assist with shade matching on carpet by visual inspection
  • Line up production by speed groups and color sequencing
  • May be required to be on job 30 minutes prior to shift change
  • Assist in monitoring operations to ensure a quality product is being produced
  • Fill in for supervisor when needed, however, disciplinary action will be handled by Supervisor or Department Manager
  • Assist in keeping work areas in a clean, orderly manner

Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass the Munsell Color Test
  • Must have some basic computer skills
  • Analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Basic reading and math skills required
  • Leadership abilities for motivating employees
  • Must be able to follow through with instructions, handle stress, and stay focused
  • Manual dexterity to perform all aspects of the job
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
  • Work in normal industrial environment with inherent background noise, dirt, humidity, and temperature variations
  • The employee works near moving mechanical parts and in precarious places
  • The employee may have to handle dyes and chemicals
