Job description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, budget, and execution of trade-related projects.  Developing and directing the overall strategy relating to trade consulting.  Collaborating with stakeholders to align business objectives and timelines.  Building and maintaining effective relationships with trade partners, clients and stakeholders.  Managing trade documentation and ensuring compliance with international trade regulations.  Analyzing trade data and market trends to inform decision making.  Overseeing, reviewing and revising internal controls related to trade consulting. Provide oversight of import and export processes. Perform qualitative and quantitative evaluations of transactional documentation for compliance with applicable trade regulations. Supporting Crane Worldwide Logistics global supply chain security program and ensuring compliance with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) program and the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Agency Cargo Security Program.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Oversee the drafting of compliance manuals, code of ethics, and client monitoring programs, including regulatory filings
  • Cultivate new and existing client business development opportunities for trade consulting to meet revenue targets
  • Actively build a national professional network and participate in relevant industry organizations and associations
  • Engage as thought leader who serves as a consulting partner responsible for all facets of trade consulting including senior client management, project leadership and managing and achieving financial operational targets
  • Serves as a senior advisory figure that drives thought leadership and helps to shape clients’ corporate and product strategies
  • Perform trade consulting services for clients, such as: tariff classification, Export Control Classification Number (ECCN), ad hoc requests, duty drawback, mock compliance audits, ruling requests, licensing determinations, free trade agreement and special trade program qualifications, etc. 
  • Contributes to the development of account strategies to support and win the target group of customers/accounts
  • Review and analyze client work products produced by staff for quality and accuracy
  • Develop solutions and improve trade compliance 
  • Personally coach, train and mentor direct reports and provide career development opportunities through training and quality management activities
  • Conduct annual performance reviews for all staff within assigned areas
  • Address all employee performance problems promptly and directly in accordance with personnel policies of the Company.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues from all departments to accomplish assigned objectives

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Walking, standing, sitting, possible warehouse work, travel
  • Talking, hearing and using hands to operate computer equipment 
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus
  • Job will require punctual and regular attendance as well as presence on-site at the assigned work location

OTHER SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Ability to lead, analyze and interpret existing industry and government requirements.
  • Proficient and conversant with all Global Trade Compliance policies, procedures, and work instructions
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from all departments to accomplish assigned objectives.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree/Business or related discipline
  • Direct experience and working knowledge of trade consulting practices 
  • Minimum of 10 years’ work experience relative to Trade Compliance

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

  • Licensed Customs Broker (LCB)
  • Certified U.S. Export Compliance Officer (CUSECO)
