By leveraging data from 911 dispatch, EMS interventions, and emergency room care, we aim to empower EMS agencies and ensure patients receive appropriate care, addressing the challenge of 911 being overused as a catch-all for various needs. Our goal is to proactively manage  hard-to-reach patients by integrating with the 911 system and offering a variety of interventions, including physician-led nurse navigation, care coordination, and real-time alerting. With Crosswalk, vulnerable community members gain access to vastly improved healthcare, reducing unnecessary emergency calls and directing patients to the right care. About the role

Crosswalk Health is looking for a dynamic Director of Nursing to come in as a critical leader across the organization, spearheading the development and expansion of our clinical department while overseeing the command center. This role is ideal for a visionary leader who is prepared to build from the ground up, executing the implementation of our programs, workflows, creating processes and driving the success of the overall operation. 

The Director of Nursing (DON), working closely with the Head of Clinical Services, leads the nursing department to ensure top-notch, affordable care that meets all standards and regulations. The DON manages the nursing team, sets department goals, and fosters an environment that promotes overall well-being. As the chief nurse, the DON champions patient-centered care, mentors Practice Managers, oversees clinical matters, and guides training and education. With a focus on professionalism, respect, and compassion, the DON plays a key role in maintaining the organization’s high standards of care. 

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a strong team of nurses, building a best-in-class value-based care function, and driving operations, implementations, and training.

• Provide day-to-day clinical leadership at Crosswalk Health’s command center sites, aligning with the organization’s mission and values.

• Develop and implement nursing policies, procedures, long-range plans, and staffing schedules, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., CMS, IHI, CAP).

• Recruit, train, and orient nursing staff, ensuring adherence to competency programs, and conducting interviews to build a qualified, treatment-engaged team.

• Manage staffing to ensure adequate coverage, develop educational programs, and coach and develop the nursing team to achieve relevant and challenging goals.

• Report regularly to the Leadership Team on nursing achievements and goals, and develop and monitor unit performance metrics, including agency and overtime costs.

• Educate staff on new and existing procedures, systems, and fiscal responsibility, and recommend opportunities for growth and development through appropriate training.

• Maintain clinical expertise and competency, participate in compliance and performance improvement activities, and ensure quality primary healthcare delivery.

• Develop and maintain expertise in electronic health records, collaborating with clinical and IT staff to optimize systems for efficiency.

About you 

• 7-10+ years of relevant working experience within ED, urgent care, EMS, healthcare settings, etc.  

• 2+ years experience in leadership positions managing and mentoring team members as well as 

• 2+ years of experience leading training and administration for your team of nurses 

• Exposure to emergency room and emergent care settings - very used to working in a protocoled environment

• Experience in “ground up” building within the healthcare space

• Ability to effectively present information in small group situations to patients, health center staff, and the general public

• Nurse call center/triage line experience is an added plus 

• Current unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse (RN) in the State of Texas; this is in-person at our Dallas/Fort Worth facility with up to 25% travel required 

• Master’s degree in business or a health-related field from an accredited college or university preferred
