Description

What you’ll get:

  • A rare opportunity to shape and lead the marketing function end-to-end (strategy → execution → performance), building durable systems.
  • Direct partnership with the CEO and leadership team to sharpen CCI’s voice, positioning, and influence.
  • A lean, remote marketing team that includes a coordinator, designer, copy strategist, execution support, and additional copy resources—giving you leverage without unnecessary layers.
  • Decision-making autonomy within a small, focused organization where work moves quickly and alignment is direct.
  • Ownership of a defined marketing budget, with discretion to allocate across channels, contractors, PR, creative, and performance initiatives aligned to growth priorities.
  • The flexibility of a remote, full-time contract role with meaningful impact and visibility.

Why you’re the right person to help us elevate the practice of capitalism

The Director of Marketing leads all demand and brand-building efforts for Conscious Capitalism, Inc. (CCI). The role translates CCI’s principles into clear, differentiated value through positioning, campaigns, and content that drive action across membership, events, chapters, partnerships, and thought leadership.

This role is for a hands-on strategist and operator who can set direction, execute quickly, make hard prioritization decisions, and measure what matters in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

What you’ll own

1) Positioning & messaging (make us unmistakable)

  • Define and pressure-test CCI’s positioning so leaders can easily articulate what we uniquely do, who we serve, and why it matters
  • Lead the copy function and set messaging standards across programs, events, chapters, and partnerships
  • Act as the strategic filter that prevents brand dilution and keeps communications aligned to the core narrative

2) Integrated marketing strategy (bring structure and focus)

  • Build the marketing strategy from the ground up, including goals, budget allocation, and channel mix
  • Create an annual marketing plan tied directly to organizational priorities and growth targets
  • Set priorities across membership, events, chapters, and partnerships —explicitly deciding what not to market

3) Campaigns, content, and PR (drive action, not noise)

  • Build and run multi-channel campaigns (email, social, paid, partnerships, PR) that drive measurable results
  • Own the editorial calendar and deliver high-quality content (newsletters, long-form thought leadership, case-based storytelling)
  • Manage the PR firm: media outreach, pitching, and journalist relationships
  • Partner with the CEO and leadership team to shape thought leadership grounded in real decisions and outcomes

4) Performance & optimization (measure what matters)

  • Establish marketing OKRs and dashboards; report what’s working, what isn’t, and what we’re changing
  • Use experimentation and performance data to improve conversion and engagement—without hiding behind vanity metrics

5) Team, vendor, and cross-functional leadership (make it happen)

  • Lead in-house staff and contractors with clear priorities, strong briefs, and high standards
  • Partner with Membership, Development, Chapters, Thought Leadership, and Operations to deliver cohesive experiences
  • Build enablement assets (decks, one-pagers, case studies) that support sponsorship, partner, and donor conversations

Success in This Role Looks Like

  • A clear, credible market position that leadership can communicate simply and confidently
  • A focused marketing engine with visible priorities, intentional tradeoffs, and consistent execution
  • More predictable performance across membership, chapters, events, and partnerships
  • Stronger sales enablement that improves membership/ sponsor/partner conversations
  • Sustainable growth in reach and influence without overwhelming internal teams or chapter infrastructure

What we’re looking for

Experience & capability

  • 8–12+ years in digital marketing with ownership of strategy and execution (not just oversight)
  • Proven track record building or reshaping a marketing function in a growing or resource-constrained environment
  • Strong positioning/messaging and go-to-market capability—able to translate complex ideas into clear narratives
  • Data-informed decision maker who prioritizes outcomes over vanity metrics
  • Knowledge of or experience with conscious capitalism is strongly preferred

Ways of working

  • Builder mindset: can set direction and roll up sleeves
  • Strong writer/editor who sharpens thinking as well as messaging
  • Comfortable leading small teams, contractors, and agencies efficiently
  • High standards for clarity, quality, and discipline

Helpful, not required

  • Experience in membership orgs, executive communities, or mission-driven organizations
  • Exposure to CEO-level audiences, boards, and senior operators
  • Experience translating values/principles into operational practice
