Summary of Job Duties:
Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Director of Housing and Residential Experience serves as the chief administrator for the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff’s residential communities. The Director provides visionary, student-centered, and operational leadership for a comprehensive housing program that includes multiple residence halls and approximately 1,500 beds.The Director oversees all aspects of housing operations, residential education, staffing, facilities coordination, and student support within the residential environment. This role ensures that residential communities are safe, inclusive, well-maintained, and aligned with institutional priorities while fostering a living environment that promotes student success, belonging, retention, and holistic development.
As a senior leader within Student Affairs, the Director manages a complex auxiliary operation, supervises professional and student staff, and collaborates extensively with campus partners to advance a high-quality residential experience that supports the University’s mission as an 1890 land-grant HBCU. The position requires sound judgment, strong operational oversight, and the ability to lead both strategic initiatives and daily housing functions.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Business Administration, Human Sciences, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in university housing, residence life, or student affairs administration.
Demonstrated experience supervising professional staff and managing student staff teams.
Knowledge of housing operations including assignments, occupancy management, and residential education practices.
Experience managing budgets, auxiliary services, or complex operational units.
Demonstrated ability to address student concerns and navigate complex situations with sound judgment.
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
