About Vantage Data Centers

Vantage Data Centers powers, cools, protects and connects the technology of the world’s well-known hyperscalers, cloud providers and large enterprises. Developing and operating across North America, EMEA and Asia Pacific, Vantage has evolved data center design in innovative ways to deliver dramatic gains in reliability, efficiency and sustainability in flexible environments that can scale as quickly as the market demands.

Position Overview

Vantage is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Director, Energy Origination & Power Infrastructure Delivery to lead the company's energy strategy across Australia and support growth opportunities across the broader APAC region. This role is responsible for securing and delivering the power infrastructure required to support Vantage's data center growth ambitions, while ensuring energy remains a key enabler of long-term business success.

The successful candidate will lead utility engagement, grid connection strategy, power infrastructure delivery, and energization activities, while also originating long-term energy solutions that ensure power availability remains a key competitive advantage for Vantage. Working closely with Business Development, Site Selection, Sustainability, Construction, Operations, Finance, and Executive Leadership, they will align energy strategy with Vantage's growth objectives and customer commitments.

The ideal candidate combines the commercial mindset of an energy originator, the stakeholder relationships of a utility executive, and the practical execution capability required to deliver critical power infrastructure. Success will be measured not only by utility connections delivered, but by the ability to secure long-term power capacity, create strategic energy partnerships, and enable Vantage's continued growth across Australia and the broader APAC region.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Delivery & Execution

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of power infrastructure required to support new and expanding data center campuses.

  • Oversee utility connections, grid access, energization, and infrastructure delivery activities, ensuring projects are executed safely, on schedule, and aligned with business objectives.

  • Manage delivery risks, utility dependencies, permitting, commissioning, and the successful handover of energy infrastructure into operations while supporting customer energy discussions as required. Power Origination & Energy Strategy

  • Develop and execute Vantage's long-term energy and power strategy across Australia to support current operations, future expansion, customer requirements, and sustainability objectives.

  • Originate and secure long-term power and energy solutions through commercially structured arrangements that balance cost, reliability, scalability, and risk.

  • Monitor market dynamics, regulatory developments, pricing trends, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities and inform strategic decision-making.

Utility, Grid & Strategic Energy Partnerships

  • Establish and maintain senior relationships with utilities, network operators, regulators, government agencies, and other key energy sector stakeholders.

  • Secure the utility capacity, grid access, and infrastructure pathways required to support current and future data center developments.

  • Lead strategic engagement on network constraints, infrastructure upgrades, energy policy, and power market developments to ensure long-term power availability remains a competitive advantage.

Commercial Leadership

  • Lead commercial negotiations with energy providers, utilities, infrastructure partners, and other strategic stakeholders.

  • · Develop commercial strategies and business cases that support long-term growth, infrastructure investment, and energy procurement decisions.

Experience & Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in power, utilities, energy infrastructure, hyperscale data centers, digital infrastructure, renewable energy or related sectors.

  • Proven track record delivering major power infrastructure projects, including substations, transmission assets, utility connections and energization.

  • Experience supporting hyperscale data center, digital infrastructure or other mission-critical developments, with a strong understanding of large-scale power requirements.

  • Deep understanding of the Australian electricity market including the NER connection process and access standards, AEMO 534A capacity approvals, connection works and early works agreements with DNSPs/TNSPs and ISP driven augmentation and cost allocation.

  • Proven ability to secure power capacity and develop energy solutions that support large-scale infrastructure growth.

  • Strong commercial experience negotiating energy, utility and infrastructure agreements.

  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams and managing senior relationships across utilities, regulators, government agencies and development partners.

  • Exceptional stakeholder management, negotiation and project delivery skills, with a strong focus on risk management and execution.
