Since 1969, MYCS has helped individuals and families in the Mon Valley area Get Better based on the specific and unique circumstances of each person we serve. The people of MYCS strive for excellence in their quest for knowledge, compassion and support for the recovery of every individual.

•    Provide quality services at all times to residents regardless of medical and psychiatric behavioral issues. Services may include CPR, first aid, behavioral programming, goal plans, etc.
•    Be cooperative and remain flexible in work schedule adjustments to meet the needs of program operations for all 365 days in the year, including holidays, resident illness, appointments, inclement weather, etc.
•    Report to work with regular attendance and be able to stay awake throughout your shift as well as not leave residents unattended until a staff person arrives to relieve you of duty.
•    Work independently, under stress and change while performing multiple tasks simultaneously.  Cannot impose personal beliefs and practices on others, as well as keeping personal matters out of the work environment.
•    Remain calm, cooperative and supportive while on duty, especially in emergency and unsettling circumstances.
•    Must be able to lift 30 pounds and willing to perform lifts as needed.
•    Be able to perform computer tasks within several software applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office, PsychConsult and payroll system.
•    Assist residents in all aspects of teaching and/or completing with residents all adult daily living skills, including personal hygiene, bathing, toileting, oral hygiene, dressing, cooking, cleaning, shopping, running errands, transportation, packing lunches, laundry, etc.
•    Medication administration as mandated and trained under the Department of Public Welfare for staff who work in Pennsylvania's community-based ID programs.
•    Operate an automobile or van (including lift accessories) as appropriate to provide client transportation.
•    Accompany and assist residents on all appointments.
•    Responsible in assisting residents to eat well-balanced diets and/or follow specific doctor ordered diets.
•    Active participant in recreational and leisure activities by planning, organizing and/or attending with transportation plan identified.
•    Provide support and guidance to residents for their emotional, social and intellectual growth.
•    Monitor the residents living area for hazardous and routine maintenance conditions and the reporting of such conditions upline.
•    Working knowledge of all resident files including medical, central, programming, goal plans, support services, etc.
•    Complete regular household cleaning chores including, but not limited to: defrosting the refrigerator, stove/oven cleaning, curtains/drapes, windows, marks on walls, bathroom cleaning, etc.
•    Ensure the residents' environment is continuously clean, safe and secure.
•    Fulfill fire drill responsibility on a monthly basis or as directed.
•    Completion of all paperwork, as required, in a timely fashion with signature and date.  Paperwork includes progress notes, staff notes,

•    Education/Certifications:  High School diploma or GED required.
•    Experience:  One year experience in the intellectual disability field.
•    Clearances:  Act 33 and Act 34.
•    Driving:  Must be 21 years of age or older with a valid PA driver’s license and meet the guidelines to be accepted on the agency’s vehicle insurance policy.
•    Medical:  Upon hire, provide a current physical and Mantoux test, and then ongoing as required by the Department of Public Welfare (DPW).
